Seriously, I am glad his fat ass got kicked off...I wouldnt want to sit next to anyone who cannot lower the armrest comfortably. (and I have ridden next to some big guys and gals in the past).

Get your crap together and lose weight.
No sympathy from me.

I'm calling bullchip. Who purposely buys two tickets cause they like the extra room and then goes on standby where they know there is only one seat for them? Coincidence that he has a movie coming out on the 26th?

"Smith added that while the ordeal was embarrassing"

But being morbidly obese isn't??

It sucks sitting next to fat people in economy. I flew with Nicola a couple of years ago to a comp and she was next to this gigantic girl in her mid twenties ploughing her way through a huge bag of chocolate covered pretzels. If that was today she would have probably have been kicked off as well.

They don't want to be embarrassed but the person next to them being crushed is ok?

He claims he can fit with the arm rest down and that he can buckle without an extender. If that's true, IF THAT'S TRUE, then Southwest definitely F'd up.

He also claims he regularly buys two seats because Southwest is so cheap it makes sense to him. Sounds reasonable, if the money were essentially meaningless to me I would buy two tickets as well.

I regularly get $40-75 flights from SFO to LA/OC/SD on Virgin and can usually bump to first day of for another $40 or so. I just don't see flying Southwest as a celeb

probably has more to do with having two tickets on one flight and it converting to 1 ticket on the other plane... also don't know if he was trying to get a refund for the second ticket or not... Fat Celeb that's normally quiet, and has a movie coming out very soon.... People that don't fly, especially with Southwest, may feel for him, but I applaud SWA, and will continue to fly them as a first priority

Why would he buy two tickets on SW? They don't assign seats.

You'd be surprised...Val Kilmer flies from LAX to ABQ all the time on SWA.

I don't get it. Why would someone with money not fly Southwest? Are things really better on any other airline?

^Yeah, first class.

Don't get me wrong - I like Southwest and fly them quite a bit intra-CA... Especially for shorter trips because it's so easy for me to leave my car at Oakland airport. But for a longer trip in CA, barting to SFO is actually more convenient, and it goes right to the int'l terminal which Virgin Am. flies out of and VA is actually cheaper than southwest most of the time unless you book way ahead.

X-country I don't fly anything but VA... The entertainment and food is way better than anything else and the wifi service is actually very good and allows me to fly during the day and work from the plane. VA first class has a celeb or two on just about every JFK/LAX flight it seems. I hung out with Tracy Chapman last time I flew home lol.

Southwest doesn't have first class or assigned seating.

Kevin Smith was flying intra-CA, Wes.

Maybe he should been walking intra-CA and this would cease to be an issue...

lol

lol manzo

Looks like Southwest is admitting they screwed up. Assuming Smith actually fits in a seat like he claims, they probably need to fire the captain or at least discipline him.

He must have had a few donuts since Dogma... I remember him husky but not 2-seat fat
Old     (paulsmith)      Join Date: Mar 2002       02-15-2010, 1:21 PM Reply
He's apparently NOT 2-seat fat, Wes. Fat, yes. 2-seat fat, no.

Has Rod hacked Wes's wakeworld account?

my bad Paul, I made an assumption based on the fact that he said he always buys 2 seats

don't worry - you'll know when Rod hacks me because I'll start accusing gay marriage supporters of being hypocrites because they don't engage in gay sex!
Old     (paulsmith)      Join Date: Mar 2002       02-15-2010, 1:31 PM Reply
He denies saying that or doing that, fwiw. I think he said he occasionally buys an extra for room and small talk avoidance but not because he doesn't fit in one seat.

that makes more sense

The legislative efforts mentioned in the video on this link are interesting

After briefly watching some interviews with him on the news last night, it is obvious that this is a publicity stunt. Therefore...tuning out

I had a direct flight from Vegas to Little rock on SWA where I was pinned in a window seat by a morbidly obese man. That was one of the most miserable experiences of my life. I completely support this.
