Steering is 'TIGHT"

OK, took the boat out for first time of the season last weekend. I keep the boat garaged when not in use and have a 2000 ski centurion direct drive elite. Launched and battery whined a little but started right up. But then noticed steering was extremely tight. I could barely turn the wheel. It got a little better gradually throughout the day, but still not normal. Any suggestions?? Is there a place for power steering fluid? Any help would be appreciated.

Kevin it's your steering cable. If your lucky there is a grease fitting on the cable,under the dash. If not the steering cable needs to be replaced.

no, there isn't a place for power steering fluid.

zerks are on the rudder assembly, not under the dash.

I just had my steering cable replaced last summer and think it was around $200.

Kevin- You can do this work yourself. I had to replace one on my 2000 Centurion Bowrider. You have to pull the floor up in a couple of areas, but it is pretty easy. FYI- These usually get stiff if they sit in water (in the engine compartment) for extended period of time. Pull that plug.
