I'm not sure about the 10" but I just installed the 12 and it's awesome!

You have to check out tcsounds.com. Look at the TC-7 for a free air sub.

Stu - what are you powering the 12" with?

I'm powering it with a Cadence ZRS6000 class D mono amp (700 watts at 2ohms)and it pounds hard! I love it. Upload

What kind of box do you have with that sub?

I toasted my Rockford this weekend. Did you have a 10 or 12 from the factory? I was thinking of dropping a 12 in to replace the bad 10 but I am not sure if the box is deep enough or big enough. I can get replacement Rockford P2's 10 or 12in for under $50 each, but the first one only lasted 40 (boat) hours, so I was considering a better replacement. I will say the Rockford sure sounded good while it lasted. Any advice?

stu....we gotta meet up to ride sometime....

I'm jealous of your new amp/sub....did you put it in yourself? What about that EQ? Does it get wet easily when you get caught in the rain?

I can't take credit on the install it was all done by Hydrotunes in Austin. Justin and Trey @ Hydrotunes do excellent work. My boat is an '06 so it didn't come with the RF sub.
Mark - no rain on it yet, but I haven't really been rained on much and yeah let's ride soon.

Is there a box behind the panel or are you running it free air?
Old     (dizzyj)      Join Date: Jul 2003       06-04-2007, 3:23 PM Reply
you dont wanna ride with fletch, hes pretty boring to watch.

I'd love to here your xs. I need to upgrade my interior sound and im not really looking forward to building a box to fit there, but I've yet to hear a good free air sub.
Old     (stusumm)      Join Date: Sep 2002       06-05-2007, 5:35 AM Reply
The Sub is in an enclosed box with the kick board built in as the face plate. The XS12 is not a free air but the XS-10 is....I think.

Dizzy - I'll wave you down next time I see you on LA. Might be a while if the dang water temp doesn't come up a little. :-)

How did you get the XS12 sub? Was your dealer able to buy it?

stu....don't listen to Dizzy, and definitely don't let him give you any advice on throwin' 3's.....you'll end up with stitches or you'll be repeating yourself for hours!

Tom,

I do not know what it is you have against Wet Sounds but I have noticed multiple posts from you like this? May I ask what it is you have against my company and our products? Stu has one of the first XS subs out there. So I know for a fact that you have not even heard our subs to make a blanket statement like that.

all I did was ask if anyone has tried these subs in a free-air application. then it turns into a pissing match about what's a better sub. can someone tell me their experience with the sub. I'm looking for more bass than I have now without building an enclosure or spending mass amounts of cash. tim- any info would be great

best free air sub is the jl audio IMO.
Old     (wetsounds1)      Join Date: Jan 2006       06-08-2007, 8:02 AM Reply
ifinallygota21v- Our XS10FA is a 10 inch free air sub. The XS12 requires an enclosure. It works in a sealed .9 cu ft or ported 1.4 cu ft. It can also play in something a little smaller if needed.

But sounds like you are leaning the route of free air. Our XS10FA is $169 with a grille. I will be updating the site in a few days with pictures and they will be shipping in a week and a half.

Thanks,

Tim

Didn't know the XS 10 is free air...anxious to hear the reviews on this one. JL audio has had that market pretty much cornered for a while.

Hey, lets go easy on masterxstar...the last thing this guy needs is us ripping on him. He obviously has enough problems being 35 years old and not being bright enough to realize that Little Rock is not a city in Alaska (AK).

Nice boat.... It looks very familiar. I did 2 JL 10" subs in an enclosure under the dash in mine. And I went with 2 Pro 485's on the tower. There is virtually no bass and very little mids from the 485's. Upload
Old     (wetsounds1)      Join Date: Jan 2006       06-11-2007, 1:22 PM Reply
Brady,

What amp do you have running your 485's? What do you have them crossed over at? You should be getting a ton of mid bass punch. In fact, we use the 485's to provide music and PA functions at a lot of wakeboard and rail jam events and have 2 pairs installed permanently at the Texas Ski Ranch providing audio for the entire cable lake running full range. They produce a ton of mid bass. You might not have enough power or have something going on with your settings. Hit me up and I will get you taken care of
