Confused about how to hook up my perko (Searched)

negative of second battery connect to primary battery

connect boat main power wire to main battery, then run a power wire from battery one to #1 of perko.

#2 battery power wire to #2 on perko

Starter power wire to common of perko

Is that right??

If so what i am confused about is where to hook up my power wire for my amps if i hook it up to #2 battery then if i driving on #1 battery i will have no power to my amps.

So do i just want to hook the power wire for my amps along with the boats power up to #1 battery and just always use #1 and if #1 dies start with #2 and then switch to both and charge #1 back up

also do i have to use 0 gauge to run from both batterys to perko or can i use 4

4 will work, but 2 or 0 would be better. Hook the negatives like you said. Hook all the wires that were previously hooked to the battery to the common. Hook the positive of the original battery to #1. Hook the positive of the added battery to #2. I personally run all amps off the common, that way whatever the perko is swiched too will be the only one draining. Hope this helps.

Just a suggestion but if you need some heavy guage wire, you can cut up a set of jumper cables. Buying a set of 0g for $49 and hacking them up was the cheapest way I could find to come up with 40' of 0g wire.
