in events i see a hype nor vs hype so, i think there needs to be a Battle of the Board Brands. A little corny but i think it would be a lot of fun. Most of us jokingly say the brand we ride for is better then the other so it would be really funny. Maybe have a contest for best dis of a board company, like HyperHeavy oe CWB Crappy WakeBoards.
What do u think?

Anyways good looking site.

yo evan...wait till you see how dumped the hyplite xstar boat's are gonna be this year. John's boat has a jet turbine engine, and solid gold bars as ballast.

i'm stoked how the site is coming along. input (positive or negative) is always accepted. thanks for the comments so far!

Lets do a board vs. board comp! we should plan it for the end of the season so we are all in our tip-top.
Old     (wakeviolater)      Join Date: Sep 2004       03-05-2008, 10:33 PM Reply
maybe a bracket stlye comp would work.

LF vs Obrien...winner takes on winner of CWB vs. hyperlite.
Old     (scott_a)      Join Date: Dec 2002       03-05-2008, 11:18 PM Reply
...but then you're giving LF a free trip to the finals, and that wouldn't be fair to HL or CWB. I think what you guys need to do is go with more of a proven competition format and have each rider eat a few cheeseburgers and then see who can land a 7.

We might be on to something for the DRA season, Day two of the events might just have to have brand bragging rights determined.

it just sounds like so much fun. Gary that would be sweet if we did that as the 2nd DRA stop. Like Jason said we would have to find some good riders on other board companys(ronix, gator, liquid, obrien) because there are not many people around that ride for those other companys. If we did it right we could have a bragging rights style comp and then so people who are not sponsored can have a battle or their FAVORITE brands, just to get everyone involved.

Yeah that's a great idea thats been brought up in the past. def. need to do it this season though. I most all the Norcal guys that would be down LF= Locken, Jarret, Shelby, Dowd. Gator=Derek Cook, Slingshot=Aubrey, Ronix=Mike McNasty, Obrien=Kasen, I'm sure there are others those are the first to come to mind.

if this whole brand off things gets too big gator might bring out ricky g and randall...not that it would be bad but we all know who is going to win if those guys ride.

I like the team challenge idea. Maybe have 2 or 3 riders from each team, then combine & average the scores for each team.

Tony, we have Schwenne, Dykmans, Alex, Brady, Dan Bright to name a few, I like our chances. You might need to import Robby C & Nick Jones to help you out

haha well i have a few people in mind that might shake things up but i was thinking the same thing. Rob C and Nick are great ideas. have you heard much about Nicks foot? i read the rant but it seemed to be slightly old. hope hes better in time for the season.

Tony, I talked to him a couple of days ago and he's been starting to ride a little, just taking it easy right now. He is heading back to the westcoast for summer. You going to Wake Games?
Old    kc700            03-06-2008, 7:04 PM Reply
Mike Mcnasty....he deserves his own page altogether...legend has it, he once calmed the choppiest of folsom lake waters...with a single motion to the heavens...then he proceeded to romance each and every girl on the lake that day...simultaneously....but in all seriousness, thats a great group of guys, i pretty much owe everyone i ever met in the sport to Marchiniak and Chaboya....good to see the site up and runnin.

thats good to hear Randy. Right now im not sure about wake games. im just starting to try and get a good 3 days a week of riding but im not sure if i want to take that week to travel or ride a little extra because you know i dont have the luxury of riding in jr mens this year so im going to need all the riding time i can get.
But stoked to hear about nick.

Schwenne is a machine when it comes to riding local tournaments, it was nice when he quit riding in them a few years back so some other people could get a chance at winning a few!Upload

IMO I like all the nor cal riders, regardless of board co. but i think brady sammons and chris dykmans at this point in thier careers can beat schwenne. They are a few others that can def throw down with him too from nor cal but for contests those are the two that come to mind. No offense to anyone just my 2 cents.
Old     (jarrod)      Join Date: May 2003       03-07-2008, 9:38 AM Reply
Funny, right before I read this, I was wondering Chris could take Mike in a contest. Love watching Brady ride too....but I doubt it.

Mike is an amazing technical rider. I think I saw him throw 4 7's back to back in his camp video. Heel, switch heel, tow, switch toe...the guy is amazing. Most people don't realize what they are seeing.

But, now you've got Chris sticking 9s and Mobe 5s. Those are competive tricks at the highest level of our sport.
Old     (steezyshots)      Join Date: Feb 2008       03-07-2008, 9:40 AM Reply
I saw Brady's Mute Ole 7 on video and I can't wait to see it live!
Old     (richd)      Join Date: Oct 2003       03-07-2008, 10:08 AM Reply
Don't rule out Alex and the Northwest crew either, I've seen him and Robby really throw down plus they've got all that jrX experience which really helps when riding local events. Tony C. is a one man wrecking crew as well. Plus there always seems to be some kid like Trevor coming out of the woodwork as well. Then the smoke clears and the last guy standing (BG) wins it, I'd feel safer betting on an NFL game then trying to predicting the results of any wakeboarding contests around here!

Stay tuned! UploadUpload

at boardstock when brady and mike rode in this last yr they both went off. Mike run was crazy clean again no knock on him but imo bradt's was better. he lost cause he went down on i think it was ts fs 720. The blind landing sliped and the handle popped. He got right back up and threw it again and stomped it clean. That contest mike got him but by now way was it a given.Brady's tricks were bigger and grab longer. When i saw chris ride in the king of the delta he showed to thats he's a big dog right now. Funny but arent those guys some of mikes students and now instructors?

I cant wait to see some of the local guys really take off in the national scene. It sounds like a few are going to very soon. Good luck on tour T. Carrol and the rest of the cali riders. Is chris riding on tour this yr?

Mike's bag runs deep... There's stuff in there that he could pull out any time to give anyone a run in a tournament. You can never rule him out.

Dykmans is killing it these days, too. He's been riding more this off season than I've ever seen him ride in the past. I'd bet he'll be on his a-game come summer.

But then there's Tony Carrol. He's definitely a one man wrecking crew when he's on.

You just never know. I'm looking forward to the DRA contests this year. I'm also hoping we can get some of the CIE boys together for some down time this year. We need to start working on some dates for a little get together with some photog's.
Old     (richd)      Join Date: Oct 2003       03-07-2008, 11:37 AM Reply
Brady was ruling in 06 as well and missed a lot of 07 due to injury but I hear he's back now so you can add him to the mix as well.

I'd like to see Chris try to qualify for the tour this year but he doesn't have a lot of time on the sliders at this point. This week, which he spent in Orlando, may determine in his mind how he feels about his chances when it comes to the obstacles.

Chris has gotten most of his instruction in the past at the wakeboard camp in FL and then from Buffalow but you could say that Mike "schooled" him on how to ride a contest back in the BelAqua days!

I couldnt agree more with you guys. There are some really good riders listed here. The DRA events should be alot of fun this year. If they get this bunch of riders out there it will off the hook. The competition between these guys will be great to see.

im with Randy, Derek Conway is a great rider. Injurys have put him down for the last couple of years but in no way has slowed him down. I admire the fact that he is still pushing the sport so hard after what hes been through.
Like everyone else has said though, this years DRA contests are going to be off the hook, GREAT RIDERS. We all need to get together and start pushing the sport in California, we could surprise a few FL people.
