need advice about '99 MasterCraft Prostar 190 prop

Well, my father in law pulled the damaged prop off his '99 Prostar and shipped it off somewhere to be repaired, and well, let's just say it seems to have been lost. I want to help get him going again, but I haven't kept up with props for a few years. Does anybody know the specs on the factory prop for this specific boat model? I think it was an OJ brand, but don't know what size. Also, I know the CNC machined props are hot, but is it worth it, and where to get a good price on one? I've also been told to stay away from stainless steel because if you hit something, it will transfer the shock up the line to damage the shaft or worse. I need info about how best to proceed, as we need to be on the water again ASAP. Can anybody help a brotha out?

I would suggest contacting your mastercraft dealer. It is probably the best sourse to determine which prop is going to work the best for your location and how you want your boat to perform. I could give you a suggestion, but it would be pretty much useless being that where I live we have to use differant pitch props due to the high altitude.

you could buy the stainless steel OJ i have on ebay right now . Propellersonline. com has the best prices on props, if you dont want a stainless steel check out ACME, they are sweeeeeeeet!

I would definately get info from the dealership. I had to have my prop rebuilt and it took 1 week or so to get it back. In the meantime I bought a brand new one because I wanted to have an extra prop on the boat anyway. It was about $420! Yikes but now I'm set and if I damage one of them I can just have it rebuit for about $120 as long as it's not too badly damaged to fix. Good luck!
