What prop would be best suited for surfing on a Sanger 215? ACME 1235? I've asked this Q for an alround prop but the whole family is getting into surfing so might have to reconsider prop choice.

prolly best to just call up ACME and ask them... they can get way more detailed that MOST of us on here... good luck!

ACME 653 is what they told me when I called them. I have it and love it, the wave is cleaner than when I had the stock 515 as well as I has more push.

Stick with a 3 blade as you have a 1:1 transmission. Mine is the 911 which is 10.5" pitch. My top speed dropped 1 MPH when empty because I now use the full max RPM.
Hate's suggestion is great, too.
With the lower pitch you've got better control of speed, as well as a better start.

I meant to add that after reread my post. The speed control is really excellent, at the the end of the season I lost my Perfect Pass yet again and had to rely on driving by RPM's even with well over 2K of ballast, lead, Battery and people it was no problem.

Art, how clean is your wave with the 911? I never noticed the difference until I damaged my 653 and had to drop the 515 back on for a few weeks but it was pretty big.

I think it's better than my 515. I think because there is less slip but that's just a guess. I'll have to try the old one to look at the difference sometime this summer.

Is there a marking on the prop showing what model it is? I'm interested in knowing what one I have on my boat.

It's usually on the back of the hub stamped into the material. It might give model # or dimensions.

I have found a 231 new for a killer deal. Its a four blade 13 x 12.5. Is there any advantage of 4 over 3 blades as far as holeshot goes with th greater pitch? Or just stick with the 911?

There is no advantage in a 4 blade over a good 3 blade in a 12 pitch prop. There is at higher pitch levels, like 15 or 19. Drop pitch for better acceleration. Your engine spins more revolutions for each foot you mover forward so you effectively increase the torque output of your engine to move forward that foot. Hence, better hole shot.

Acme will tell you to stick with the 3 blade with your 1:1 gearing... Go with the 653 or 525 (almost identical) or the 911

Hey Repo

I am also in the process of upgrading my prop for the V215 and called Karl from "Board it up" yesterday. He recommended the 911 for wakeboarding and surfing with a fair amount of ballast, not sure how great it will be for skiing though, no one in our family skis.
