Can you help me answer this questions. What trick is harder a wake to wake back side 180 or a wake to wake heel side, front side 360?

bs180

i take the opposite side, bs 180s were easy for me and hs 3's come and go for me.

I'm glad this came up. I can do neither, but worked on both of them a bit last summer.. sucks to say "last summer" BTW.

i would say BS180. Only because of BS rotation. On both, I can NEVER get the handle close enough to pass it. i think flattening out at the wake is key on both. Thoughts?

learn a bs 1 without passing the handle, dont even give it a thought.

throw a late 180 on the way down, late is key.

hmm. didn't think landing it wrapped would be easier. i guess once you land it like that the rotation is easy and so it the pass?

I say BS is harder, but it might be because I do them less often. I learned with the handle pass and haven't ever landed one blind (I do toe 3's the same way, with a late handle pass). Learning the BS 180 will make a BS 3 really easy. If you are looking for 2 tricks for the price of one that may be the way to go. The FS 3 was the first real trick I learned. It took me a long time, but once you've figured it out you can do them in your sleep.

What's the deal Chuck? You guys working on a new scoring system or clearing up a debate with the kids. LOL

Take care, man.

BS 1, according to my sources. And Chuck if your working on adjusting scores, look at the crow mobe, how can that trick be worth more points then a Moby Dick & KGB, both handle pass mobes.

BS 180. 360 is a much weirder feeling (being completely backwards can scare you a bit at first), but the rotation on the 180 is...different. You just have to wait on it, or else you wont ever make it, and end up butt checkin every one.

maybe because on a crowmobe you are landing blind??
Old     (stanfield)      Join Date: Mar 2004       11-02-2006, 11:32 AM Reply
I learned the BS180 first, but it seems to be giving me problems lately. I guess I shouldn't say first as I've never hit a 3.

Whats up Chuck? Bs 180 is a much more technical trick. You have been around competitions for a while and just think about how many people throw a fs 3 compared to a bs180. You see fifty 3s for every one bs180. bs 180 should be considered the harder trick.
Old    gotwake123            11-02-2006, 12:23 PM Reply
i learned bs 3's first
Old     (kel_dub)      Join Date: Feb 2006       11-02-2006, 12:25 PM Reply
front 3s are easy if you just have the right approach and handle tug. on backside 180 i feel like it always wants to pull me to back 3, and then i get worked.
Old     (jarrod)      Join Date: May 2003       11-02-2006, 12:40 PM Reply
I've landed one blind and one w/pass. Both are way harder than a HS 360.
Old     (wakeeater2003)      Join Date: Mar 2004       11-02-2006, 12:52 PM Reply
I would say backside 180s are harder. What is kind of wierd is I can do tantrum to blinds but can barely do backside 180's. But on the other hand I can do switch backside 180's like they are nothing. I think frontside 3 is definately the easier trick because of the landing. Later, Mike
Also I think a crow mobe is just as hard as a moby dick.

Chuck- Only one way to settle this. First, you learn a HS FS 3, then you learn a HS BS 180. Then you can tell us which is harder. No worries, I'll be there to coach you thru it!!

If I had a $100 on the line and had the choice of Chris throwing either a Moby dick or a cro-mobe I'd pick the Moby dick everytime. KGB and cro mobe - toss up, but every rider has different strengths. The one trick that INT really doesn't score properly is the blind 5 IMHO.

id say the fs 360 is harder, I tried it like 10 times never landed it then started trying bs 180's landed it my 4th time and now they just come naturaly
Old     (blabel)      Join Date: Jul 2001       11-02-2006, 3:41 PM Reply
BS 180.

Both were about the same to learn but now I never miss a 3 but more times then not miss the 180. Everyone is different. My toeside bs 180's are more consistent than my heelside bs 180's and that's probably not the norm.

Rich how consistant is Chris at doing those tricks? I am finally getting to the points on moby dicks and crow mobes where I can land them every time. It has taken a long time to get there.
Old     (otiswunguy)      Join Date: Apr 2002       11-02-2006, 4:16 PM Reply
Bs 180s are easier and like said above, its really easy to get the bs 3 once you land the bs 180. For some reason I have a huge problem with consistancy on my fs 3's.

Blabel.... I'm the same way. I think the TS/BS is way easier as long as you get the handle pass. Something about landing on your heels instead of your toes.

Put one more vote for me thinking the HSBS 180 is easier than the HSFS 360. I don't know why but thats what I've found. I'd be willing to bet that many more people find the HSFS 360 to be easier though...

He was a lot more consistant on the crow mobe before he started grabbing them. He rarely fell on them back in 02/03 - now it comes and goes. He's just got some sort of glitch happening - they shouldn't be that inconsistant. I told him he should work on the CM 5, that will get the cromobe dialed!

Maybe it's just me but I love watching a big clean nose grabbed CM ala Struharik!

The Moby dick is pretty much money all the time and I haven't seen him fall on a wake to wake BS180 for 2 or 3 years!

Yes like I said it took me a long time to get those tricks consistant. I don't think I will have to worry about losing it from trying to grab it since I am to old and not that flexible. Like in all wakeboarding you got to stick with what works for you.
I haven't really seen Chris ride in a while if you have any footage I would like to check it out. Later, BCP MIke

Rich, I think it comes down to what the riders strong suit is, handle pass or wrapped. I can tell you that you see a lot more Crow Mobes on the Jr. men's tour then Moby Dicks & KGB's. I know one top ten rider that has a bag full of wrapped landed tricks, but not one handle pass mobe. So I guess you go with what works for you.

i think they are both about the same in difficulty
Old     (dococ)      Join Date: Mar 2002       11-02-2006, 11:09 PM Reply
I'm with Blabel. They're both semi-hard to learn, but (for many people) once you get the HSFS3 dialed, you will keep it as long as your arms are strong and you don't get lazy on the take-off. The BS180 is another story, hard for many folks to achieve consistency on that trick, it requires less force but more finesse.

I think the BS 180 is easier because it is easier for me to keep my axis during the rotation.

BS 180 is harder..i landed a frontside 3 the 1st time i tried it and it is my most consistent trick..BS 180 took a little bit longer
