My step dad wants to get us a new boat for the new season because our latest mastercraft prostar 209 is just not cutting it. The wake is at best awkward with the fat sacks full wakeboarding and the slalom ski wake is just plain bad. Im all for a superair or x45 but we need a boat that is a work of art for both wakeboarding and slalom skiing. i was looking at the new nautique 216V crossover and was wondering if anybody had it. my family is in love with both wakeboarding and slalom so we are not tempted to settle on one boat or the other. we also want a v drive witch narrows down the list for skiing. if there are other crossover like boats out there i am overlooking or if you know from personal experience please tell me. thanks all chris cote.

Tige 24Ve Especially now with the new tower and vinyls just saw one and it was incredible. Multi-sport is what Tige is all about. No I don't own one. The dealer is also a BU dealer and they are very close in comparison now. Maybe the slightest edge to the big VLX as far as bling.

Here is a good review of a boat that might be right up your alley. Get the MC X15 with a trim tab on the back. http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/3183/631784.html?1222985060 Another boat to check out is a VLX. If you want a better ski wake get the diamond hull if you want a better wakeboard wake get a wake hull. (Message edited by polarbill on October 03, 2008)

If you are looking for a boat for slalom, wakeboarding and surfing do some research with Tige. http://www.tige.com/convex.php My family does it all, and we control the size of our wake with Taps. We can also trim the wake so we get a longer surf wake. It's so simple to use, and quick - we change the wake on the fly.

Here is a list of USA Water Ski approved boats. The Nautique sv211 and Centurion Falcon V would seem to fit your criteria as good v-drive slalom boats. The three Mastercraft boats listed are direct drives. The X-14 shares the same hull as the ProStar214, which is on the list. http://www.usawaterski.org/graphics/downloads/ApprovedHistory83-08.pdf

Christopher I know its easy to get pulled into that only MC and BU are worth looking at. On my current search I was the same way only an older X2 would do. Do yourself a huge favor go out and drive all of the suggested boats if the MC is the best for you it will be extremely obvious. I will say of all the boats I have driven the Tige road the nicest and was the most comfortable to sit in. I have not bought one and not the only reason to buy. However for your search I would seriously give them a shot for a crossover boat. They have been the most serious about this for the longest. True that all manufacturers made fun of the TAPS system or wake plate it seems they are all jumping in on it to help their cross over boats. Nothing wrong with that. Hell not to mention its fun out driving and riding behind different boats.

I did NOT like the X-14. it was cool at first, the seating, but just is all the bad of direct-drive with the people in the way going to the back you get in a vdrive. i would pass and check out the SV-211 or X-1/15

to be honest i havent ridden behind too many wakeboats before to compare it too. we bought this boat because my dad is a slalom skier and i like to wakeboard. with stock ballast and just one observer the wake is a little bland. however, i have not tried yet but i feel if you added some more people and some additional fat sacs it could be decent. that being said it is a fantastic boat and it does make a very good slalom wake. we also bought it because the mc dealer near us was the best out of everyone.

The boats people are suggesting are worse for slaloming than your 209. You're not going to find a better boat for both worlds. No v-drive has a smaller wake than your 209, and I've seen some nice wakes from 209's.

A guy at school here has a 209 and the wake gets big with weight but the shape blows....another guy has a 211.... they ski a ton behind that thing and with stock ballast + 5 people the wake is great

Curious has anyone been behind an XTI? That is an interesting lay out being a direct drive? Might be an option as well.

Talk to a mastercraft dealer about going to the factory. I just got back last night and I was able to demo all the boats that mastercraft makes and the best part is everything was payed for. In the end mastercraft and your dealer should be able to get you a great deal on a new boat.

The best suggestion anyone could tell you is to test drive all types of boats you are considering and even some you are not. A good dealer is going to take the time. When you want to make a purchase like this, don't just take other peoples testimonies, get your own opinion. TEST DRIVE EVERYTHING!!! Tige has a dealership in Gainesville and they have an 09 RZ2 out for show. It's a great boat. And one of our pro-riders swears that the 24ve is the best boat ever built! Check out the post by mel about the Tige test drive at Lake Lanier. It has some good pictures and descriptions of the RZ2.

Malibu Wakesetter VTX with the bow ballast, power wedge and Cut Diamond hull. That setup is completely unstoppable. THE smallest softest V-drive ski wake, and 2450# for wakeboarding
