Looks like little brother is going to be working overtime to pay and fix big brothers boat! Good news is you can wake surf, just keep the boat turning to the left and go in circles! lol

You need a BFH. If it can't fix the shaft it will sure do a number on your little brother. I understand completely as my little brother tore up a prop 2 weekends ago and set me back $400.

I am not sure how you do that and not damage the prop. unless you hit a stump so hard that it bounced high enough that the prop cleared it. Pretty crazy but not that uncommon. I have nailed stuff before. Your insurance should take care of it. Just dont tell you brother. He should be good for some cash on the deal.

Yeah bro, we're real real low down here in TX too. I am super careful with my ride and I managed to high center my supra in ankle deep water IN THE MIDDLE OF THE LAKE! $4600 later it was fixed. strut looked like yours, rudder as about 30 degrees off, and had spider webs all over the bottom. If you get away with a strut and shaft minus a motor alignment and glass repair, consider yourself (and bro) luck man. Have no idea how its just the strut though. seriously, what?

Well I think what happened is that he had the boat slammed out had like 10 people on it so she was super low riding. There is one spot on the lake with some nasty rock. I think he prolly took a massive roll over the rock that picked the boat up and slammed it down on the drive shaft, leaving the prop basically unharmed. But again I have not idea.

We did exactly the same thing on our X-Star a couple of years ago. The lake was loaded with wood and we ran over big stump. Must have gotten wedged in between the prop shaft, prop shaft housing and or hull somehow and bent the whole shaft and housing, looked just like yours Andy. The prop was somehow fine also.

I did the same thing as well at one of our lakes in the interior that is really shallow. I was a bit lucky though. Once all pulled apart it was only the strut that was bent and the prop having to be fixed the shaft was still fine. If you can get a hold of a puller it's not too hard to change out.

I'm going with 'Gas, turn, slam.' Caught the rock or log square on the driveline holder. 2 Ft forward it was the scags, 2 ft in arrears, bye bye prop and rudder. Sucks Bro! Luckily you're riding with the Scud (today?) so you arent to pissed.

Dave, I have a puller and like 4 props so I am covered there. Nothing like spending $100 to have a strut overnighted to you! YEAH!

That's nothing. I took out the prop, rudder, strut, shaft, and gel coat a few weeks ago. I snapped the rudder in two pieces and watched the lower half skip across the water like a flat rock. Oops...

Andy, Was that out on Bald Eagle? I am on Big Marine and bent my prop a bit last weekend. We are about 2ft of water level low compared to last year. It is insane. Hopefully, it's only the shaft...

If the shaft isn't bent, it's a SUPER SUPER EASY repair. My concerns here are the Shaft Log, and the Coupler on the transmission. Does the strut have any visible markings on it? It should have some type of ding or abrasion on it indicating what hit it.

Good luck with your boat that sucks! I wish I could send you guys some of this water in MA. My dock is practically under water from all the rain we have gotten the past month. I have never seen my lake this high in the spring never mind mid-summer.

KG, THere is nothing, no marks or anything anywhere. Just a bent Strut and I am almost 100% sure that the shaft is bent.

Mask-- Yeah it was on Bald Eagle, the lake is about 3.5 feet lower than it should be freaking crazy. Not as bad as White Bear Lake, which is about 8 feet down.

Jarrod does good work. He also essentially left the prop in one piece. Now, you tell me.... How do you break off a rudder and bend a strut, but leave the prop with only small bends. SKILLS!!! Ha, ha, ha. Andy, fly out for next week. We've got ya covered. The boat will be back and the boys from CWB will be in town. It'll get you feeling better in no-time.

If the Strut is bent like that, then I would agree Andy, the shaft is probably toast as well. That sucks, but it could have been much worse.

Nick, Depends where you are in Wiconsin. Many Northern WI lakes are very low. Depends on the lake type too. Up by Eagle River area some lakes are 2-3 feet low and right next door the lake levels are fine. A lake we camp on every year has been 2-3 feet low for the last 3 years. Makes landing the boat a bear.

July 5th we were 40 yards off shore in 10 feet of water going 20 mph and hit a stump it hit in the middle of the boat, flexed the hull (or that's the theory) when it rebounded (un flexed...) it sent the prop through the bottom of the boat I didn't even know that could happen prop, gel coat, fiberglass, strut, shaft.... $5200 insurance $$ is in the mail on it's way the winds of April, May and June are gone the drought of August and September hasn't arrived yet the month of July without a boat

Bent strut and no dings? Seems like someone may have been power turning with a fully loaded boat. It's not the first boat I've seen that way from power turns.

Well It was no where near as bad as I thought or that my mechanic thought it was going to be... All in all it was just a bent strut, with no other damage to anything, in fact we didn't even have to re-align the engine. Sooooo the Total Damage was: $214.50 - New Strut $145.50 - Labor $450 - Unrepairable Achme Prop that was BRAND NEW. -------------------------------- $810.00 Owed to me by my brother. Here are some shots of the repair.
