I learned how to wakeboard behind my dad's 20' I/O without a tower or Skylon. I'm not great, but I got good enough to be able to go out and have fun.

I'm the exact same way Don. As long as I'm on the water, I'm happy.

Yes, I learned Br's tantrums, 3's etc... behind a tiny 18 ft. sea ray with hardly any wake, get a tower and a decent rope you will be fine.

You can wakeboard behind a jet ski if you are determined enough. You just won't have the advantage of the tower, rope angle, and monster wake.

It's kinda like learning how to surf in Arizona.

Any boat is all about having fun. When I was a kid we put more hours on a 1973 viking deck boat with a 115hp johnson than most do in a lifetime. We did a lot of 3 event and barefooting behind that boat.
My point is unless your some closet pro rider, your boat is great for getting out and having fun. Thats what its all about.

well...that...and not power-turning.....

sorry...it's just that new riders/drivers seem to be prone to the powerturn. just come all the way off the throttle and putt back to a down rider. trust me....it might even get you invited to check out the wake on one of the premier wakeboats in your area......

I'm poor (college student) I have a 19' 1989 Larson with no tower. I put 750-1000 pounds in it and the wake is fine. I'm working on a backroll now.

Im still rockin the 180 horizon with a tower an 1000# ballast. Hard as all hell to keep the speed steady, but the wake is pretty nice with 1/4 trim, 21 MPH @ 70 feet. Its worth investing, and you can always move the stuff to a new boat later.
