So new problem with my family's 07 VLX this season. There seems to be an issue with the ignition. Basically if you can imagine the key being at 12oclock when its put in, 1 o clock is power on, like the dash and stereo, 2 o clock is the engine turning over and 3 o clock is as far as the key turns to the right without twisting it way too much and breaking something.
Whenever we start it and turn to key to 3 o clock, the engine turns over but doesn't start. We get the urree-ee-ee-ee sound (yes its a technical term) but the boat never actually kicks in and starts. BUT if we turn it just to 2 o clock, just within the turning over angle, it starts no problem.

If that's understandable and you know anything that could help please post. The battery's fine and once we get her started she runs perfectly. I'm thinking it might be a loose connection behind the dash so we're probably going to get behind it and reconnect anything.

You shouldn't be able to go any farther clockwise then the start position. I could be wrong but am kind of surprised the switch isn't just a 3 position. off-on/acc-start. It sounds like it could be a bad switch or relay?

There's not much in it really. Its pretty minimal movement but it does make a difference
