I bought a brand new Sony 540UI to replace my old Sony deck that crapped out. Problem is, at high volumes the sound cuts out. I wired it up just like the old one was since it was the same make...but I'm wondering if I'm missing a setting somewhere. This thing is way more advanced than what it replaced...but I'm wondering if that's a good or bad thing. Any help would be appreciated.

Are you running the speakers straight off the headunit or do you have an amp in there. Either way your hitting your peak power load for the volume.

I have an amp. Just curious if there is a setting I need to change on the headunit since I am running an amp. You can tell I have no idea what I'm doing...just plugged things in the way they were on the old one.

is your amp overheating and going into protect mode? Your amp is obviously working the hardest at high volume. If it gets too hot it goes into protect mode and shuts down.
