Adding sub to stock boat system

Anybody got an idea for a basic low cost sub. Can I just use a radio shack job and modify it?

easiest thing.. and will sound half decent...

get a bazooka powered 10... will hook up either using rca cables or speaker outputs...

sinmple install... simple hook up... half decen t sound.... doesnt break the bank....

I would wait. You can do something cheap but you will want to change it soon after. I would just suffer through not having it untill you can afford something that would sound real nice.

Not sure what you consider cheap but here is a $200 solution:

12" Dayton Quatro from Parts Express in a self built 1 cubic foot sealed box (3/4" MDF covered in resin paint/carpet) $100

Add 100uF capacitors inline to each existing speaker (Parts Express).

With a little work and $200 you will be rockin, no hype just good tunes.

The Bazooka solution that came with my boat was completely inaudiable at anything above an idle.

I used to a own a boat that was identical to yours, 2001 Four Winns 180. I put a custom made box to fit under the rear seat in the middle, it housed a jl audio 10w3 and I pushed it was a fosgate 250.2 amp.

It didnt sound good because it rattled everything in the boat. The sub sounded really good in my truck, but was unbearable in the boat. Whatever sub you buy, the biggest decision will be finding a solid place to mount it.

For a sub however, I would probably go with an infinity basslink. They sound good already come with built in amplification, come in many boats as factory options.

Would you not bother with the Sub in the FourWinns at all or just mounted hard and not push it too hard.

I'm just looking for a little improvement. I do my real listening at home anyway.
