My heater core on my Malibu LSV (2000) went bad, so i took the whole heater assembly out of the boat and took the core out. I thought I could go to an auto parts store and match it, but no! They looked at me like i was crazy. Am I? Can you do this? Am I going to have to shell out 130 dollars? Help?

You mean for the heater?

Doesn't West Marine & Overton's have those?

You can check a radiator shop, they may be able to fix it for cheap!

Robb, not for the heater, I'm talking about the heater core for the radio.

I didn't want to patch it.

I was joking about the heater core for the radio. What else would a heater core be used for but the heater.

I just wanted to know if any one knew if i could replace the core cheap.

Sorry Ryan, If you have the three outlets you want have any luck matching it up. My local radiator shop said they had never seen anything that size. Mine went out and i just sucked it up and ordered one from heater craft.

If you have the two outlets you may have better luck matching them.

I've tried as well to take my leaking core to multiple radiator shops...none could match it up. I even looked through the books with them. I figured it would be easy...but it's not. I Just ended up ordering one through skidim.com. Good service/good products.

call 1-800-radiator, or Sacramento A.I.R. both can find replacements. should be able to use anything that fits in case, I dont know why you have 3 fittings, cap 1 off & run it. only really needs inlet & outlet. call & give dimensions. shouldnt be a problem. braising/welding aluminum is easy too.

You can't just use "anything that fits" because you have to match the inlet and outlet tubes up with the case cutouts, otherwise the core won't fit all the way back into the case.
