I am interested in purchasing these leds and have heard so many positive comments on how well they function. I would like to know how well they are holding up. Has anyone had these leds for longer than a year. I am aware to the year warranty but I want to make sure they will hold up for the price.

Kevin, I have not personally, but my buddy has them on his boat and told me that they are the brightest LED's he has ever seen. Much brighter than the Abyss. I have 2 on order.

Yea, they should be plenty bright... You then could also use the lights for blindfolded skeet shooting in the parking lot after you pull the boat out of the water...Night surfing... What a fool!

Andrew, dude, not safe to surf at night and most states have laws against it. Underwater lights are NOT for surfing. Let me break it down for you.

These lights have little computers on them so that when they get hot, they go out. Safety feature. When you are in the boat and lets say, traveling around 10 MPH, the LED/light will be out of the water. Therefore getting hot and then triggering the little computer inside to turn off and cool down before a fire starts. Underwater light are more for the mood than anything else. They need the H2O to keep them cool. And yes, you will see some boats that have them on while traveling, but most of those boats are huge and sit a little deeper in the water. But after a while they will turn off for safety reasons.

Why doesn't anyone talk about the OceanLED brand of lights?

I know they are more expensive.. but damn they are twice as bright as anything else on the market!

also they have been out for years and utilize certain patents. ..

We have even brighter LEDs now for those who want to make a statement.. Our new X8000 LED started retail sales Monday: They are 750 Lumens and will light up to about 70' behind a boat. Right now they have an introductory offer price of $269.99 and they will be $369.99 within a couple of weeks. Here is a pic..

Upload

Thanks,

Ken you say yours are 750 Lumens and light up 70', but Kevin gave a link to H2O lights and they are 1350 Lumens that is close to twice the amount of Lumens for $20. more.

How much farther do you think H20 will shine over your X8000? Or do I have it the opposite and it is really less lumens is better?
Old     (bulletlines)      Join Date: Apr 2005       03-18-2009, 7:11 PM Reply
How far out LEDs shine is all dependant on water clarity: We will have some pics soon. They are $269.99 each, and we only have White or Blue right now.. I'm not familier with the H20 light, but I will look it up, and post the differences between ours and theirs..

Thanks,

Ken

So back to the original question, how have these bullet lines led's been holding up? Thanks all.
Old     (bulletlines)      Join Date: Apr 2005       03-18-2009, 7:25 PM Reply
Brannon,

I looked at the site, and they just do not have enough information in the description to find many differences. I can say that both our x6000 and x8000 LEDs use less power to produce the same Lumens, therefore our LEDs do not burn as hot, and they draw less power.. Heat is the enemy with LEDs.

Thanks,

We have sold nearly 1000 x6000 LEDs... We have had 1 dead on arrival, but the poles were simply installed backwards. We have had 2 go bad after install, but we are pretty sure that there was an electrical spike that fried them (customer installed a cheap volt regulator, and I have not heard from him since). Our new X8000 comes with a voltage regulator.

Robert,

Be careful when you buy LEDs, because some are very cheaply put together. Get samples and test them first.

Thanks,

Ken Land

Ewing,

Thank you for the offer.. Grant West; G here on WW does some great DIY threads, he is doing a test to compare multiple LED manufacturers, and he will be following up with results here on WW.

Nu Bu,

Thank you for the plug.

Thanks,

Ken

Yea, I admit I haven't tried there underwater lights for boats but I have used there smd light strips with no problems at all. I ordered 1500 strips last month and didn't have 1 dead strip so there quality seems to be there. Here is a link to there webpage.

What do you think? Looks almost like the same exact pic that you are using Ken? I think they are the same thing?

The chinese are always making similar products and knockoffs. I can say that the company you have there is not the company we use. Also, I can say that the company we use has a patent on the casing.

Just do a google search for QF-TD6A1-6*3W and you get tons of companies selling the very same light. I will bet my remaining left testicle that they are the same light...

Funny thing is when I talked to them the first time they said they wouldn't sell them to me because they already had a U.S. distributor. Then two weeks later they said the hell with it order as much as you want. Problem with the chinese, no loyalty. But the lights look identical to me? I'm just saying. Either its the same thing or they're using the same set of plans, which I have found with my dealings in Hong Kong to be common place.

p.s. I have talked to the manafacturer as well as 3 other trading companies and they well all sell to me. Looks like you'd have to go to China and personally over see the manafacture of every light to control the market. Free enterprise wins again!

man, the internet these days, youd think people would quit lying about stuff, seems to be very easy to get the answers. Twice this week bad things have been found out about bullet lines. Id really like to support a TX based company (yeah even though they are made in china, what isnt these days?) but its hard to justify that when there is such misrepresentation.

HEY i just got done reading this thread and to be honest i really do not think thise two lights are the same . if you look closly you can see that the chiness one is flat at the top and the one from bullet is rounded. not to methion that the chiness one looks like chromed plastic (could just be the light from the flash).
