I can appreciate the fact of the volume and direction of these Wet Sounds speakers but am I the only one who thinks they are really goofy looking? They're fine if they were a Costco bargain deal, but for a high end speaker, they look really cheap. My opinion of course..
Alright, flame me. I know this is Wet Sounds Central.

That's why you can order a boat any color they offer.

Depends on your taste Magellan..... I like the look of metal cans as well as the black wetsounds.. not a fan of the white ones, but on a white boat who's to argue? My boats black, so black wetsounds look great on it.
All I know is that they sound great!!

Alpine CDA 9885
I pod hook up
XM radio
RUE M1RF Marine remote ( RF fequency )

Cadence
ZRS 6000 D for sub
ZRS 1502 for 4 Pro 80s at 4 ohms each

Wetsounds
4 Pro 80s
1 Wetsound 12 " Sub

Basic system went cheap as possible , with NO amp on cabin speakers they are powered off headunit . A friend built my amp board, hooked it all up and tuned it THANKS!
I drilled all the holes in boat, tower, pulled wires, but he hooked all of it up . I put the sub in a small wedge box and hid it behind the kick panel under drivers feet. I had to change angle of wall , but it looks and sounds great !!!!!!!!!

I went with one amp for 4 Pro 80s , because wetsounds said that was a cheap way to go , and still be VERY loud and clear. Yes I know 2 amps to power 4 tower speakers would be louder, but why ? . Its loud , the one amp is way more sound than I EVER thought !!!!! very HAPPY with 1 amp on tower speakers ! speakers are at 4 ohms

so if you want a great system, pick out a headunit, and get same amps and speakers and you will be HAPPY !!!!!!!!!!!

I would love for someone to tell me that this setup looks cheap. NICE SETUP GOOCH!

Pioneer DEH-P880PRS
Zapco SX-SL (Pushing 14v+ to my amps)
Polk Momo Speakers inside (8)
JL Audio Sub,

Pushed by a Zapco 360.4, 750.2, and a 1000.4 on those beautiful Wetsounds!

goochy....how are you runnign 4 pro 80's ( 4ohm speakers) showing yrou amp a 4 ohm load. I think your probably running them in parallel showing yrou amp a 2ohm load. I haven't seen too many class AB amps that will run for long periods fo time seeigna 2ohm load.

Yeah, I would love to know that too. That is a 2x150 amp at 4 ohms. He must be running in parallel at 2 ohms.

Gooch, Those 4 look great!! I'm envious. I just put together a new stereo also and only have 2 Pro-80's and everyone that see's them talk's about how good they look and how big they are. Then they just shake their heads when i power them up. I played my stereo so loud that my wife's ears rang for 2 days. I want to get 2 more, but she might not let me do it now.

Alpine PDX 2.150 running 2 Pro-80's
Alpine PDX 2.150 running 6 Polk MOMO 6.5's
1 old school 6-disc CD changer
Alpine PDX 1.1000 running 2 Kicker CVR 12's downward firing, underneath a bench seat. The boat may shake just a little bit!!

Pretty sure wetsound's enclosures are made of fiberglass with gelcoat. Website says reinforced composite.

I 'm not sure about 2 or 4 ohms. My friend wired it up, I just pulled all the wire. I did what wetsounds said to do. He told me to buy this and do this. I did and I am VERY HAPPY.

Thanks I really like them on the Titan tower .

he probably wired each pair in a series then paralled them together, that would give you a 4 ohm load

Shane, I highly doubt that. Not to many installers woudl reccoemnd that kind of configuration...each speaker would only see 75 wats RMS.
Old     (goochy)      Join Date: Feb 2002       07-24-2007, 3:07 PM Reply
The 1502 is pushing 150 RMS at 4 ohms. It doubles when you drop it to 2 ohms. These amps are very under rated. And, rated at 13.8 volts. Not 14.4. Thats what my friend said ?? I do not know, I just know its LOUD ! I did exactly what Wetsounds told me to do and buy . Its works ??? I would not want it any louder .

both boats look great!! the most important component IMO, is the titan tower. it reaches further to the back of the boat allowing the bad arse speakers to go to the rider. instead of the illusion tower and blasting those in the boat. once again, both boats look killer.

Goochy,

My local Malibu dealer now puts the Titans on nearly every boat they sale. I walked into the showroom where they had probably 15 wakesetters and everyone of them had Titans. I asked to listen to them so they took me outside to listen to one that was being prepped so it wouldn't bother the customers inside. I didn't want to climb in someone else's boat so I stood about 30ft back and the dealer cranked up the stereo. I looked at my wife and her friend standing next to me (who know nothing about audio just that they like it loud and clean). The look on their faces said it all... we ordered four Pro-60X a few days later. We were the first ones the dealer had sold I believe.

The Titans look great but they cost as much as the Pro-60 and there is just no comparision.

My System:
Four Wetsounds Pro-60X with a Zapco 1000.4 (150w x 4 at 4ohms)
Four Wetsounds XS650 with a Zapco I-2100 (wired in parallel at 200w x 2 at 2 ohms which gives 100w to each speaker)
Alumapro RX 12 DVC sub with a Zapco 500.1 (500w at 2 ohms)

Garold,

I agree with you on the tower. Although the Titan tower is not the best looking tower out there IMO it does put the speakers higher and farther back.

I can't stand the new Illusion tower Malibu is coming out with that has the serrated edge look to it.

Most people with Malibu's really like the Illusion tower and it is different but if I had to do it over again I wouldn't get the Illusion tower. I didn't know that when I bought the boat, obvisouly. Too few accessories, they're usually more expensive and I like the look of plain anodized aluminmum.

I wired the system... The speakers are wired in parallel showing the amp 2 ohms. The amp is rated at either 2 x 150 Watts @ 4 Ohm or
2 x 300 Watts @ 2 Ohm. This amp is also rated at 13.8 volts, not 14.4. Meaning more power than rated when running. Also, Cadence underates their amps. Plenty of power for the 4 Pro80s and no problem running at 2 ohms.

Thanks Larry !!!!!!! Getting to deep for me , I just ran the wires and mounted all the speakers !!
I am a Titan Tower guy. I do not like the illusion tower . so far everyone loves the tower !!

chad,

How do you like the Zapco powering the Pro-60Xs? Are they on a Titan or Illusion?

I have yet to hear them since I'm out of the country right now. I have heard Pro-80s before in a friends boat. My wife and friends say they are incredible. I knew they would be loud but what I am pleased to hear is that several people have remarked how clear they are. I am the most critical person I know so I hope I'm happy with them.

I could have wired all the speakers in parallel and just used the 1000.4 to run the cabin speakers and the tower speakers but I chose to spend a few hundred more and buy another amp. If I would have done that I bet the cabin speakers would sound even better (125w of Zapco Reference vs 100w of Zapco I-Force) but I would have had a little less power going to the tower speakers (125w vs 150w) and I really wanted to ensure the mid-bass had enough juice to keep up with the horns. Btw, all 3 amps are wired via Symbilink. I had to get the transmitter for the I-Force amp for that but it came with the Reference amps. I understand that the ability to use Symbilink is something new for the I-Force line with the redesign last year. They also have more power than the previous design. If I ever decide that I should have just used the 1000.4 then I'll pull the I-2100 out and put it in my wife's car or something.

They're on an Illusion.
