Posting this for a buddy of mine. Hes got a 99 san with the gt40.

the boat has been having an intermittent problem. Every third outing or so, the boat will stall and refuse to run. It will be running fine all day, and just idleing around getting ready to pull the next rider the engine dies. It seems like its loading up with gas, but we are not exactly sure.

We've replaced plugs, wires, and distributer. We are getting spark. Is there an air sensor, or temp sensor used to choke the engine? Both fuel pumps seem to working correctly (the cell has fuel in it).

We cannot get it to reproduce the problem on the trailer, and the dealer is going to rape my buddy on diagnostic costs since its intermittent.

does the GT40 spit out codes we can read?

You might want to ask this question on PlanetNatuique since those guys know that engine inside and out. You can also get the manual on that site as well. Here are some links for you to check out.

What distributer? It is a waste spark ignition. The PCM controls the module, which utilizes sensors such as the cam angle sensor etc.

The modules like to go out on them. Does it have spark when it dies? Is it getting fuel? Try spraying something flammable into the intake then crank it over and see if it starts for a second. If so it is a fuel problem.

Grant should chime in on this one, he had the exact same problem. Grant did you ever find the source for this issue? I know he overhauled his ignition switch, water/fuel seperator and went through his ignition. He believe he ended up taking in to the dealer, but I am not sure what they determined the problem to be. I believe he has the same motor.
