I have rented houseboats on Shasta for years but always got the smaller, cheaper models since there was only 4 to 6 people on the boat.
Now i am putting together a group of approx 16 people for next summer and want to get feedback on positive and negative experiences on the larger, deluxe style boats. I am considering the Queen 1 from Silverthorn, Orion from Antlers and Escapade from Jones Valley. Did you feel cramped on the boat when all 16 people were on board ?? Were the sleeping quarters adequate and somewhat private?? Any feedback on these or other big boats is appreciated.

I'm local to the area and I have been on two of the houseboats you mentioned above, the Queen 1 and the Orion. Both houseboats are great even with large groups 14+. I never felt cramped and the quarters were more than adequate. The way my friends did it is that couples usually got first dibbs on the rooms, and double size beds. From there people just picked out their spots for the time on the houseboat and that was that. Even when we overloaded the houseboat people would bring air matresses and tents and that worked out well. If I remember the Queen 1 has an upper suite and a hot tub, I would spend the extra money and upgrade to the Queen II, it has the outdoor upstairs bar/fridge/tv, a third deck with the hot tub and more room in general especially if you are somewhat of a clostrophic(spelling?) person. Jones Valley has really nice houseboats from what I have seen I just have never stayed on one.
