I was laid off in December and i'm interviewing for a position near yuba city. Where do most people in the area ride? Is the river navigable or is it too shallow?

Go to Lake Oroville. It's mini-Shasta. You will be very pleased.

Matthew I think there is a place just outside of Yuba City called the After Bay, The Hoffman girls ride there sometimes, Oroville is about an hour north and very nice when it has water

is bullards really closer to yuba than oroville? It doesn't look like it on the map.

Bullards might be a bit farther than Oroville, and a windy mtn. road, but well worth it!

So worth it, we used to drive 9 hours to get there throughout the 90s' for houseboat trips.

I would say Bullards it about the same as Oroville. Both are awesome lakes! The afterbay is about 25 min. north on HWY 99. There will be nobody there during the week, be careful because the water levels can change a lot and there are some shallow spots. You should be fine if you stay near the levee. If you head out HWY 20 to Meridian the Sac River is out there and always smooth, and your boat will be in the water in 20 min.

The Sac River is the best place to go! There is a boat launch Wards Landing just north of meridian and hwy 20 $10 launch fee. There is another launch south of meridain Tiesdale which is free. The river is up now but the past couple of months has been real low. Lake Oroville is great this time of year but you have to launch at the dam cause Bidwell ramp doesnt touch the water.
