okay, i know this maybe a stupid question but...
I live in WI so theres definently a huge off season, and it really bugs i was lookin into buying an indo board, but i dont understand how it mimics wakeboarding...does it really?? and is it worth buying one???

I guess it helps balance. I've only used one a few times...its a lot of fun.

helped my balance for sure. Can also help you feel more comfortable "compressing" to get your grabs down. They come with an instructional video that teaches you some techniques to help your riding.Definitely alot of fun, can get a little workout on them too

They are awesome.

I spent a summer teaching wakeboarding.
We had one on the dock.

The first time i stepped on it i nearly broke my hip.

but by the end of summer i was awesome at it. its so much fun, it works your legs out, it improves your balance, and if you watch the instructional dvd you'll see some pretty cool stuff can be done.

i would recommend buying one.

I've heard that you can strengthen your knees by doing squats with or without weight. Sounds like a good thing.

Def recommend buying one, they do help with the balance but also worth the money to see your friends bust their a## trying to do it for their first time and teaching girls how to use it

I got a BoardRock last year for Christmas... shaped like a skateboard, but has two hard round ball like legs on the bottom.. says great for learning balance for wake, skate, snow boards etc..
It is way difficult just to stand/balance on.. quite a dissappointment.. Interested in trying an indo as it looks like a little easier to at least stand on..

You can make one for cheap, I made on myself, most expensive part was 3" PVC 2ft for around $7

They're fun. Within no time you'll be walking around on it.

Ya, they're pretty fun. Doing squats on them is a killer work out!!!

Ive got the Mini one, rode on it for 30 minutes and watched a TV show. A little workout for my knee.

Just make one...head down to home depot and pick up some PVC, then wrap some tape around the spots where you see the padding is on the indo, then just use a skate deck. much cheaper and will make you better.

I have the kit with the air cushion and roller. The air cushion definitely works some muscles in your legs similar to a snowboard workout and it helps balance as well.

thanks!...i got one more question...ill probably make one, but if i dont...i know there different kinds of indo boards, which ones the best for wakeboarding...i also snowboard in the off season...but id rather wakeboard any day,,,
Old     (wakemandan)      Join Date: Feb 2003       12-06-2007, 2:02 PM Reply
I think i've got the Mini roller. Certainly easier than the standard one. The larger roller is more fun, a lot more movement. But it takes a willingness to fall on your hip a few times.

If you were making your own, what could you use for an air cushion? I would think it would help build more stable muscles for wakeboarding.

you can buy just the air cushion.. $24.95 not too bad after you saved so much to build the indo!

I am going to build my own, should take no time, and maybe $20 bucks at the most. Awesome idea.

This thread is great, I just got back from Home depot with the supplies. I think I'm gonna trace a wakeskate on the piece of wood. Some sick graphics would be awesome. I can't make my own wakeboard but this is as close as I can get so I'm pumped. Whoever makes there own board because of this thread should post pics when their done.

Are squats on the indo board a good way to strenghten your knee after you had surgery
Old     (mammoth)      Join Date: Apr 2005       12-09-2007, 4:07 PM Reply
Put it away when the drinking buddies are over? That's got to be the worst idea I've ever read on WW. That's when some of the best variations come up!

another cheap option, is an old skate deck and a pop bottle filled with water. ghetto but super fun. a little hard at first but you get used to it.

DEfinatly helps with wakesurfing. I have one and love it, the pop bottle works too, i made one and rapped the bottle with duck tape. Indo board is much smoother and more stable to work on specifics.

You might also try one called balance 360. I think it can be seen on

It is way more difficult as you have to balance on a sphere ie: ball.
They use it for surfing.
Old     (bounty_hunter)      Join Date: Apr 2006       12-23-2007, 3:31 PM Reply
the balance 360 board is definitly better than the indo. Takes little longer to master the balance 360 over the indo board because it moves in all directions unlike the indo board. It is a lot better of a balance builder.

you should try the indo boards that spin in circles so you can practice handle passes... they are called infinispins
