Raw video of Lake Delton Emptying in a Flash Flood

http://www.todaystmj4.com/news/local/19656854.html

"Click on Raw Video." Other links have newscasters telling the story.

With the heavy rains in Wisconsin, Lake Delton overflowed its banks and eroded the land near Hwy. A. The rushing water opened a channel which eventually washed out Hwy. A as the lake emptied into the Wisconsin River. Some homes were washed away in the flood. As of 5:00 P.M. today, 90% of Lake Delton is empty.

Lake Delton is home of the Tommy Bartlett Water Ski Show, along with other Wisconsin Dells tourism attractions.

This is very sad news for a local economy that depends upon tourism (not to mention sad news for home owners / resort owners on the lake). I hope everyone is safe.

It's unbelievable.

Here is the owner of Tommy Bartlett's water ski show discussing the disaster. Look at the lake (mud bed) behind him.

For those who don't know, Tommy Bartlett's ski show is a big deal in the Midwest. Interesting interview. Sad....

The power of water and gravity is insane. It's crazy to know there is just nothing you can do. Those were some nice homes floating downriver, sucks.

The wild thing is that the house is not floating down a river. That was solid land with a highway just a few hours before that video was taken. Fast forming erosion ripped out the land in just a few hours to form that "river."
