A friend is going to look at one and wondered what the wake is like. I could not find anything in a search on here so anyone who might be able to help thanks. Is it comparable to my 86 model 2001? Thanks Jeff

If it's the same as the 96' it's pretty damn good. Not as steep as the 86' but it can get big and clean. Unfortunately this is all I have and it's of the wrong side of the wake, but it's better than nothing.

IMO a great wake.. I used to ride behind a 95 ALL the time, the wake seemed to stay super clean, not huge but good with 2 350's on either side of the engine... We ened up sacking it out more as the summer wen't on ( 1,200 + ) but 2 350's on the side of the engine can give you a clean, decent size wake...

Is it summer yet???

The narrow hull and high sides make the SN one of the best IMO 19ft wakeboard boats out there.
I ended up with over 2300 lbs in mine before I switched to a SAN. The wake can as big and as well shaped as mildly ballasted SAN. The key is getting at least 400 lbs into the bow which is hard on a closed bow boat.
It is amazing that you can virtually double the weight of that boat with ballast and still have a relativly safe ride.

That boat had about 400 in the bow, two 350's on the side of the motor, a 600# large sack in the back and a wake tank. It was primarily run in salt though.

I believe 1998 is the first year of the TSC hull designed to produce a smaller slalom wake then the 1997 which was the same as the 1995, what I owned until a few months ago. The 1998 will not produce the same wake as the 1986-2001, one of the best direct drives ever made for wakeboarding. In general the sloped/humped back Nautiques are not as good for wakeboarding as the straight back boats.

Forgot about the TSC hull. My post only referes to my 1994 boat.

Thanks for the help. But while not as big as the
better hull design is it still a good decent wake compared to other boats in the 20 thousand range.......Thanks again

Hey guys,
For the RECORD.
The hull shape for the SKI Nautique was changed in 1990 and again in 1997 where it remained the same until 2003. As for your question on the 1998 Ski Nautique wake? answer is, GREAT SKI WAKE... Not Good wakeboard wake.
Also for the record, In 1997 the strut angle was lessened by 2 degrees and again in 2003 by another 2 degrees.
The SKI Nautique is just that, a "SKI" boat, not a boat for any other real purpose in todays scheme of things. Besides, the resale of ANY closed bow newer boat is limited to a MUCH smaller market.
If you want to slalom ski, or drive a boat that handles like a Porsche, tell your buddy to buy the boat, if not, tell him to LOOK elsewhere .
