Here is a fun which would you buy question...
Ok here is the low down on my final choices. I want your opinion in which you would buy please. Both boats are very clean and well cared for.
Sanger: $16,000
I am looking at a sanger v210 with a nice proflight swoop tower and four of the 6x9's on the tower and speakers in the boat. No ballast but I am good with putting in auto ballast as I know my way around the sangers and know where to get the stock switches, etc. I do not mind projects like this. Hours are about 300.

Supra Launch DD:$17,500
This supra is loaded with nice tower speakers and 800# of stock ballast and does have the hydraulic wakeplate and perfect pass. It has 350 hours on it.

Pros and conns:
1. Both boats have awesome wakes when weighted. Sanger requires less weight to perform.
2. Both boats seat close to the same amount of people.
3. Sanger has more storage as it is a vdrive.
4. Supra is much taller which is a small pro for wakesurfing.
5. Sanger is older but still is a vdrive versus a DD for resale even though this will be the last boat that I own.
6. Maintenance is easier on a DD.

Which would you buy? I have my thoughts but I want yours please. Thanks everyone.

Sanger V-drive any day if you want to wakeboard.

1. it's cheaper
2. it's a killer wake!
2. chick's will dig it!

You can always add ballast but you can never change the DD to a V-drive

I have not ruled out the supra as it is loaded but I would love to get back into another v210.

Go with the Sanger, stick with what you know. On first read I thought you were comparing two V-drives. On second read I see the Supra is a DD. No question, go with the V-drive, I am sure you will end up hating the DD.

thank you guys. that is what i thought also.

I LOVE me some skier's choice boats, but I gotta tell you to get the sanger, it's a V-DRIVE for starters, the surf wake will be fine also, prob better than the DD for sure. Also it's cheaper then the supra. Even if the supra is loaded, it's still a DD, if you're not an avid skier and will mostly wakeboard and surf, you'd be crazy not to do the sanger if it's in good shape. Just make sure you have the boat inspected and have a sanger dealer lined up for when it's time for service items you can't handle in the driveway. good luck man.

i am not sure you told us any information on the year of the two boats????
I am definitely a supra fan, but if all things are equal and they are the same year..... then I have to say the V drive Sanger.... Have heard great things about that boat.
Please do post the details on the boats though so we can truly help you..
hours?
year?
colors?
options?
what are you going to use if for?
trailer?
etc...........

I have a supra and I would have to say sanger. That v210 is just a an awesome wake. I would also love the v-drive aspect as well.
Old     (typhoon)      Join Date: Jul 2001       08-03-2009, 8:27 PM Reply
well the search continues...the guy sold the boat out from under me one day before we picked it up.

ok I found another sanger v210 with 180 hours for $17,800. It is a 1997 with the scorpion motor in it and no perfect pass and a nice pro flight swoop tower. The supra launch is a 2003 and is about the same price with 350 hours and does has PP and wakeplate but is a DD.

Still sanger??
Old     (polarbill)      Join Date: Jun 2003       08-10-2009, 8:19 AM Reply
Ty, if it is the Supra that I am thinking of that thing looks perfect and really loaded. That would be a tough decision for me.
Old     (210san)      Join Date: Feb 2009       08-10-2009, 8:22 AM Reply
still Sanger...can't turn a dd into a v-drive but can always add PP and ballast.

If you don't want the Sanger then check out this nautique...I would not buy a DD.

catually not the same supra but still it is perfect and loaded

...if its the last boat you own.....and your really into wakeboarding then you should try to get the v drive at all costs....maybe even spend a bit more and get what you want.
Old    pdxWAKE.com            08-10-2009, 9:02 AM Reply
Hold on a sec... you are comparing a 1997 Sanger to a 2003 Supra Launch at the same price.....
Yes, I think a Vdrive is ultimately nicer than a direct drive, but you are talking about 6-7 years older. Like I said in my post way earlier you really need to include more information for people to help you out.
17,800 is too much for a 12-13 yr old Sanger.
I will ask again....Give us all the info:
Yrs of each boat?
Hrs on each Boat?
Options on each boat?
Towers?
Overall condition?
Trailer Details?
ETC......
Old     (radikal)      Join Date: Feb 2004       08-10-2009, 9:14 AM Reply
Diggs is right, a v-drive is way better but, will you buy a 1999 car for 20k because its black and AWD or a 2005 for 17k even if its grey and FWD with lower milleage.

Try to find a mid range v-drive and then compare because i think that sanger was not a good deal IMO.
just my .02 cents
Old     (typhoon)      Join Date: Jul 2001       08-10-2009, 9:15 AM Reply
supra laund is DD / sanger v210 is v-drive
Yrs of each boat? supra 2003 / sanger 1997
Hrs on each Boat? supra 360 / sanger 150
Options on each boat? supra- PP, wakeplate, tower speakers, racks...sanger has new proflight swoop tower and racks and nice stereo.
Towers? supra - radacage / sanger pro flight swoop
Overall condition? both are immaculate
Trailer Details? both have perfect tandem trailers

...yep I would try to find a better deal on a v drive......thats suspiciously low hours on the sanger. you shouldn't be paying a premium because it has low apparent hours.

that looks nice but how do the mc's ride in rough water>?
Old     (210san)      Join Date: Feb 2009       08-10-2009, 9:54 AM Reply
you would be better in either one of these in the rough water than what you are looking at.

X30 is a 23 footer and has a wide beam and the 205V is going to have the best wake hands down!
Old     (polarbill)      Join Date: Jun 2003       08-10-2009, 10:01 AM Reply
The Sanger and the Supra would both be better in rough water than the 205V. That boat is not good at all in rough water. It has too flat a hull and just bounces off waves.
Old     (typhoon)      Join Date: Jul 2001       08-10-2009, 10:07 AM Reply
we need something that rides better in rougher water around here. that x30 looks interesting but i wonder about the hours on it. i am calling. It looks like the supra might not be a bad boat but i should probably wait a bit longer??

You'll regret not getting a v drive in your price range. That v205/x1 is super nice. weighted right, I've seen that hull produce a sweet wake. Rough water? not sure? judging by the lakes in your profile you'd be fine. Make them an offer?

that x30 is interesting also but i am sure heavy hours

buying a boat is something important, you should not buy only because you want it today or tomorow because you want to ride for this weekend, its a lot of money and you dont want to regret your choice. Try to find a good deal because when its your first boat after 2-3 years most of the people want to upgrade, the better is the deal less money you will loose at the end on the resale. After fix a maximum budget, its ok to be off budget of 1-2k but dont try to get away from 5k or more because your research will never stops.
After that find you PRIMARY need's for you it seem to be rough water boat smooth, v-drive, and an all around boat.
Try to look up for those kind of boats and then compare.
Low hours boat i mean really low hours sometimes dont mean something really well, example here in montreal we are doing wakeboard for 3-4 months and the weather since 2 years is not too good and i got 110 hours on my VLX i bought last year. How a guy that have is boat since 9 years and can use it 12 months did 150 hours ? To me it look a bit suspicious.

Anyway i am only trying to help like a few others here and i hope everyone will agree with my advices.

Good luck with your research and keep posting what you find !

i definitely apprecciate all the input. I value the opinions.
the rough water ride is important.

I like both to the mc's but not sure how the rough water ride is. the sanger had a nice rough water ride and i hear the supra does as well. i have been in an mc 1190 and it was brutal in rough water but i have no experience in the mc 205 or 230 if anyone has anymore feedback.

+1 for the v-drive from a Sanger V210 owner. However, keep looking you, can find a better deal out there, especially with the Marine industry where it's at today.

Another Sanger vote, but 150 hours on a '97?? I think I put that many hours on mine in the first year!
...Maybe it's been in a time capsule

edit:
On another note... Where do you ride where the water is so rough? and more importantly, why would you want to?
