I do those where I dig in the tail to the wake, and then the board tail acts like a hydrofoil.

Its a hybrid butter/blunt/tail slide
better angle

I like those on the wake Nick. I know Ricky G did one in one of my old videos. I try them but don't get nearly has turned as you do. I'm sure it's easier/better with a thinner flex board.

Yea I wasn't sure what to call it, I guess tail butter is good ?

Presses would probably involve some short of flex board since you can legitly press something with flex then something that is not. Correct?

If not it seems that your just got a killer angle or just pushin water... Correct?

Some great shots in this post!

Slingshot, since flex wasn't always in wakeboarding it was still called a press as it was trying to mimic a snowboarding press. So I don't think that there must be flex to be legit.

And I don't really think that word press implies "flex" or "bend" I still consider a press just leaning over one side of the board.

And because I'm a nerd I had to look it up in the dictionary and the first definition goes with what I believe of just applying steady pressure but another definition implies a shape change so I guess there's different ways of looking at it.

No problem Tate, sorry to post without giving you the proper dues. I just remembered that thread was floating around the top and had some good press shots so I grabbed em to demonstrate what I perceive to be a tailpress.

Mike,
Carry lots of speed as you cut out, let the board go flat, then lean back, try to keep both legs straight. If you bend your back leg, it can turn into more of a tail "lean" than a tail "press". The more you do it, the longer you will be able to hold it.

thanks greg. next time out, i'm gonna try it. how long can these be held? i'm guessing only a few seconds??
Old     (stephan)      Join Date: Nov 2002       05-28-2009, 9:57 AM Reply
If you do it in a turn you can hold it for quite awhile. Definitely easiest on a flex board. I think the best way to do it is cut really hard on your toe edge and rock on to your heel edge and do a nose blunt. Thats what my picture is above.
