Well it does have an AUTO mode, which is actually pretty good. Personally I love the layout of the camera, which is different than the sony's because it dosent make you search through menus to mess with the settings. It has a lot of switches and buttons on the sides. Ive shot some wakeboarding with it, and 60i is great for it along with high shutter speeds.
The quality is great, and im really pleased with it. Im not sure how experienced you are, but it took me a good week to learn the basics and how to set everything, and im still learning. It is a pro camera.
