Looking for a new boat and two deals locally are a 01 and 02 wakesetter vlx.
They both have the mls ballast and the 01 has the wedge. What kind of surf wave do they throw?
How much more weight would it take to be decent?

That's behind our 06 vride (same hull as 04 and older vlx) with mid and rear surfside mls and a 750 in the rear locker (between the tank and the divider... probably 400?) and the wedge down. Without the wedge the wave will look good but has no push. I think the wedge is a MUST on this hull for surfing.

Obviously this isn't the biggest wave out there, but it's plenty fun. Since that vid, I've pulled the rear hard tanks and plumbed in 750s. This is with two people in the boat, 400 on the surf side seat and 300 in the bow (apologies in advance for my friend who kinda sucks):
