Looking into buying a boat like this. Just wanting feedback on how the wake is for wakeboarding, mechanically sound, and any other information I should know about the boat. Thanks.

We had a 97 sunsetter LX with the wedge and locker sack. That boat was as reliable as they get. Overall it was a good wakeboard boat. It worked even better with 300 lbs of lead. Will never have the wake of a v drive but for the 13-15k range those boats go for you cant beat it. We loved ours, had it for almost 10 years.

Why can't it have a wake as good as a vdrive? Maybe he meant to say without exposed ballast. The boat throws a sick wake with a locker sac and a 750 on each side of the motor cover.

This isn't a bad boat. This boat is great for skiing and good for wakeboarding. It is not a wakeboard boat but can produce a good wake. Just put fat sacs, have a lot of girls sit in the back, or possibly wedge.

Duders, the boat throws a KILLER wake! For those of you who do not know, that particular boat (I have the 97) is on the original wakesetter hull. They didnt put the wakesetter on the wake hull till 2002 I believe, maybe 2003. I run a 350 locker sac, a 750 in the back and a couple of 540's on the side of the engine and the wake is MACKIN! The crew and I have landed raleys and variations, 540s', crow mobes, heel mobes...the wake is truly great when weighted correctly.

This hull is identical to the 96-04 VLX, just not a V drive. They are great boats - wood free, fairly deep hull, very reliable, great wake.
