My wife is gonna start her 2nd. season of wakeboarding this year and I wanna start it off for her with a new board. Last year she was pregnant and didn't even try, and the year before that she only got about 3 months in, so she's still really new at it.

She's about 5'10", 130-140#. Wears a size 9 boot I believe. The current board and bindings are O'Brien Vixen 134 and O'Brien bindings.

Any suggestions?

The Hyperlite Syn is a great board. I would go with the 132.

Don't think we'd need to stay with something around a 136?

Thanks for the replies!

I am 6 0 around 145... so taller, but 5 to 10 lbs heavier... I like the 136, anything less i fell like it is a little kids board.

my daughter rides a 136 jet with ronix bindings as well. She is about 5'6" and probably weighs 120. She loves that set-up.

Don't limit yourself to women's boards - unless she loves pink and purple graphics. I love a Hyperlite Motive for beginners. if she can have her demo a board or two to see what types of boards she likes.

Unfortunately there aren't any pro shops around here. I"ve got a PS3 137 that I may strap her boots to and see how that is.

I have a Hyperlite Eden that I can sell you for $100. It can be a good beginner board because has an asymmetric design which makes going toeside easier. It makes learning to ride easier. It is a 2007 Eden 135. The board belonged to a pro female so it was only used for one season. You can read about its specs on Wakeworld, under boards--hyperlite--2007 boards. I think she should stick with the 135-137 size boards. If you don't have a pro-shop close, buying used might be a good option because she can kind of demo the board, and just re-sell it if she doesn't like it. No sense in buying a shiney new $400 board if you end up hating it. I would also look on the classified section on WW if you decide to go the used route. Sorry the pic is sideways :-)

hey John, I rode a PS3 for 3 years and loved it, so putting her on yours sounds like a good starting point. they have a girls version of it this year called the Luna, so that's one choice if she end up liking it.

How about CWB Ember bindings? That may be a first step in this until I can get her on my board.
