Are there advantages or disadvantages to riding goofy foot with your backside to the wake, Port side?

I always surf regular on the starboard side. I just didnt know any better. Then someone mentions it so instead of transferring all of the weight to the port side I just rode switch and did fine.

Nothing wrong with riding this way. Mark Sher informed me he also rides this way,( I also do) and he's the best at hands down!

I've been riding backside for quite a while - most of my crew is regular foot and I have a VLX. I'm with Jim - frontside feels a little weird now.

Im goofy and when we ride on the port i ride switch. I find that if I go heel side i ride up the wake and also dive the nose more on turns. Where as switch i can ride without the rope and carve.

i think you should try all 4 ways to surf. it just makes you a better surfer and its a lot of fun even if you look retarded at first. jeff walker is the king of switch backside which is so hard.
