I know, Probably a completely rookie question...

In changing the water impeller on an 02 Sanger V210. It is in the external "Seawater Pump" as the manual calls it. Last weekend the pump froze up completely. In taking it apart, the impeller looks fine, but it was definitely the impeller that was binding.

So my stupid question is....should it be greased or something? Allowing the blades to spin smoother within the housing?

The pump housing is shot. Lots of $ to replace. I use dish soap to push the impeller into the pump.

What indicates the pump froze up completely? Is the serpentine belt rotating without spinning the pump wheel or something? If its a Merc, you can buy a plastic Jabsco replacement for around $70. They also sell a brass housing that is big $. I put a coating of vaseline in the housing. www.skidim.com

cosmocat, dont use vaseline, use something water soluable like soap. Vaseline (petrolium products) and rubber dont mix too well.

I spray mine with silicone spray twice a year when I winterize and dewinterize just because for some reason I think it should be done I don't know if it even makes the slightest bit of difference but I do it anyway
