That is the question..... I like to try to keep as many of my components the same as possible.... I have a new Supra with Kicker speakers and a kicker amp.... I do not really want to tear it all out and start from scratch and don't really want to mix different amps and a sub either... I have never really used Kicker amps and want to see what other peoples thoughts are....

Should I stick with kicker stuff and if so what amp should I use to power an L5 or L7 Sub? What Amp to power 4 Dbot 8's?

Should I mix and match?

I am looking to keep it very affordable this year.... Thanks for your opinions.....

I never stick with one brand..ever

each of them have their own perks. Since everything works pretty much together, your set to mix and match as much as you like.

I am not as concerned about quality by mixing components... just is much cleaner

cleaner looks?

If you have an exposed amp rack and want to make it look nice then yeah using the same amps makes sense, other than that no.

Kicker ZX600.1 for a 12L5 or ZX750.1 for a 12L7. For the money, it is hard to beat. Also, a Kicker ZX850.4 or even the ZX650.4 would be good for the Dbots.

The only reason to stick with one brand is asthetics IMO. Kicker makes solid amps. You can find them very cheap online, to save even more you can find some really good deals on refurb stuff with one year warranty's. I really like their subs. I think they make a 750.1 amp that matches really well to their 12L7. The bigger you can get the box the better IMO. I've heard the L7 12 in close to a 2 cube boxes and it pounded. I have one under my helm in a little over 1 cube.

Diggs, I'm kinda with ya on sticking to one brand that said I have JBL amps and subs while my components are ARC. I too have never been much of a Kenwood guy but most on here seem to really like them a great deal.

How do you like the Dbots?

If you do with Kicker amps you better put some external fans on them. It seems that there is a thread about once every two weeks about them overheating.

I'm all for keeping amps the same, speakers the same, and subs the same... but none need to match. Kicker makes good quality amps and speakers, so you might as well keep 'em. As for the sub... I wouldn't go Kicker just because the rest of the system is. Personally, I don't like the punchiness of Kicker subs... they are loud and efficient though!!

My stereo install friend calls my system a "flea market setup". He's just kidding me but I like what I like. I just got rid of the kenwood 4028 HU in my Moomba and went with the Clarion CMD5 because I like the larger knobs and the LCD remotes. My amps are a JL 300/2 for the 6 interior Polk DB675's, 2 JL 300/2 for the WS 485's, and a JL 1400A for my JL 12w6 sub.

Funny thing is my stereo guy was Not for the JL stuff but Alpines or RockFord or whatever was the most uniform. I love my set up, but I ask others the very same question your asking. I second "Shake'n and Bake'n"
