carpet cleaning recommendations?

the carpet in my boat is starting to look a little "weathered". I was planning to get the whole boat detailed, but thought I might give it a try to clean it up myself. Any recommendations for a good carpet cleaner, or carpet cleaning strategy? I want to make sure that no soap starts coming up later when the carpet gets wet. I had that problem in my old boat from trying to clean up a spot one time. Also, my carpet is not snap-in.

any thoughts/recommendations are appreciated...

Water ski magazine did an article last month. It's stated a pressure wash is the best way to clean it (of course not at full blast, you want to find a wide body spray nozzle). It will lossen all the dirt. Remember to take your drain plugs out while doing this.

When you're finished, take a shop vac and suck the remaining water up.

Where can I get a good price for a pressure washer?

Home depot has an electric one for like $150.00 now its not the best because it dosn'e have the volume that the gas ones have but for boats and dirt bikes my works killer.

Tommy - Another good and cheap option is to rent a rug doctor from the grocery store. First spray down the carpet using a little resolve (or other carpet cleaner) then wet everything down with a hose. Then finishing it off with the rug doctor. Make sure you rent the upolstory cleaner so you can get in all the storage containers and tight areas.

Just cleaned my boat this weekend and it worked great. I am sure the preasure washer would work well too.
