My guess about first-timers starting with toeside jumps, is that they naturally drift to the toe side of the boat, after getting up . . . so the first attempts at crossing back over the wake will be the on the toe side. The easiest edging technique is leaning backwards, against the tension of the rope . . . once comfortable, then they tend towards the heel side, since the cutting motion is leaning backwards against the tension in the rope. My $0.02 worth. Cheers.
