interesting fact about the V-drive is that it's not because of the way the motor is mounted at the back of the boat that they are called V-drive... it's because of the small gearbox that is used to take the drive shaft out of the motor(which is pointing in the direction of the nose of the boat) to the opposite direction with an angle right under the motor to the propeller... you probably didn't care but anyway... I agree with ed also... the only thing is that with the V drives you usually have places to put sacs right next to the motor giving more room to move around in the boat... both can have a nice wake but have to be weightened differently... it depend a lot on the hull shape though... don't know which of mastercraft or ski centurion have the best hull for producing big and clean wakes...

Here is the wake On my old 1990 D.D. I'm sure there are better D.D. wakes that mine because my boat has a wide beam. But it's a example all the same.

What do you load that up with Walt? My buddy has a malibu sportster that looks to be about the size of your boat, but no matter how he has loaded it, the wake is nowhere near that big.

Mike, Two 600# sacks. One on each side of the engine. My friend has a 93 Malibu Euro and He loads it up the same way and I think his wake is even better than mine. I don't know jack about the sportster though.

Danny boy 04 ~ It funny that you are looking at ski cfturions because before I bought my x-2 I was looking at the Enzo and the Avalanche and a season later I can definetly without a doubt say that I chose the right boat.I can say that for any other boat for that matter but let's stick to Ski Centurions.

Here's a 1999 v-drive Xstar. It has a 500# sac on each side of the engine, a 300# sac in the locker in the middle, and 200# of sandbags in the bow. You can barely see the wake but it was the only pic i had of someone standing next to it.

It's not my 205, but there are 2 fat sacs on either side of the motor, a ski locker sac in the locker and we either run a fat sac in the walk way with a fat buddy in the bow, or a fat sac and about 200lbs. of lead under the bow seats. Add that to 3-4 guys and the wake is pretty nice.

Jason, we used to do that but it is alot easier to get the boat to plane if we load a bit more evenly. Like I said, it's not my boat, I am just a lowly third.

Well,my x-2 if I fill up the back lockers next to the engine thats additional 800lbs.I got to put the fat seat and approx.300lbs in the bow otherwise the boat doesn't plane worth a crap, and even then It's marginal.A 205 hull if it's a direct drive you need more weight in the back but if it's a v-drive like the x-2 need to displace weight 50-50 front to back and the wake is fenominal.
