I HAVE 5 AMPS IN 1 2 LEVEL ALUMINIUM BOX 2 1000 WATT SUB AMPS IN THE BOTTOM AND 3 MID/HIGHS ON THE TOP 2 300 JL WATT AUDIO AND 1 200 WATT.
THEY GO TO THERMAL PROTECTION WITHIN 45 MINS OF PLAYING. I DONT RELISH THE IDEA OF MOUNTING THEM ON THE SIDES OF THE BOAT WITH ALL THE WORK THAT INVOLVES , WILL A COUPLE OF FANS DO THE JOB OR SHOULD I JUST START GLASSING IN NEW AMP MOUNTING BOARDS

Is your box vented?
If not put some holes in it and put some fans to blow in there.
We had an amp for the sound system at work and it would get hot and do all this funny stuff so we put a little 80cfm fan on it and have had no problems. You can get the fans at your local electrical store. Probably two fans blowing straight through the box and into any vents that are built onto the the amp themselves.

What subs are you runing with that many amps?
What speakers did you use to for inside your boat?
I just bought a SAN and am trying to choose my equipment> looking for something that will hit hard and be really loud.
Thanks for any help.

with three amps in one box(id never have done that) id opt, if your set on leaving them in there, for two fans approx 100cfm each blowing in one end and two fans approx 100 cfm sucking out the other side of the box. Thats alot of power in a sealed box..is it sealed?

I had the same problem and installed fans to the heat sink of the amps. 100% fixed the problem, My thermal lights on 3 of my 1000/1's used to come "on" about 20 min into playing, now the never come on :-)
