So I'm having a little issue getting my X2 in the garage, the garage is 80 inches high, and it looks like I need 82 once the tower is down. Any idea on where I can reduce the height any. Or has anyone made their garage taller to accommodate their boat Any ideas will be helpful. Thanks

Take a rolling floor jack, and use it to drop the tongue to the ground. that should give you a little extra room.

See if you can get the up stop on the garage door to go a little higher, if it's the bottom of the door that hangs down a little bit and is what it hits on. Idea #2...Take out the springs on the trailer and install air bags. When you go to back it into the garage slam it down like a lowrider!

I got your fix! Take the shocks off of the engine hatch, lower your tower with the engine hatch open then lay the hatch over the top of the tower. This should get you the space you need.

Your door should actually be 84" tall. With that in mind you might be able to use a thinner trim ceader board or equivelant to get you more height. I dont think you would get 2 inches out of it, maybe a half an inch but that and a new lower profile door seal might get you 1 inch total. Other than that I got nothin.

This works on my 02 xstar not same tower but i lower the tongue as low as it can go and it goes right in under 83". Good luck man. Parking it outside is a nightmare to keep clean.

Yeah it should be 84 but I guess they wanted to save money and made it 80. Thanks for all the tips, I will look into the hatch option.

The pics above is exactly how I had to get the X-2 in my garage. The tower light "dug into" the engine hatch and held the tower up, but with the center hatch up, the light can lower into the engine compartment and allowed the tower to clear the garage door. I also adjusted the stop position of the garage door so it raised it up above the opening of the garage door frame and did not interfere.

I have an 08 X2 and get it in 80 when I need 82 without doing anything special. I back it in and stand on the swim platform and put all my weight on the tower and push the tower/speakers down into the sunpad as the wife backs the boat in. If I am alone what I do is take ratchet straps and go from the tower (folded down on sunpad) to the trailer and crank the straps down really tight. The cushion absorbes enough to get the extra two inches. Once it's in the garage get it off the sun pad though to avoid any indents in the cushion.

Not sure if you have a single or double car garage, but last year I needed 4 inches to get my MB in; paid 2000 to raise the door opening to 8ft and buy an new insulated door.

Jim, you got that done for 2k? I was getting bid on that same project and it was around 5k... how did it turn out? did you have to move a header?

Only did the single car garage, the header had to be shifted up (the garage had the headroom to allow for an easy raise). I watched the contractors do most of the work - except for bending the metal flashing/trim and the door installation itself, I probably could have done the whole thing myself. They used a recip saw to cut nails, replaced studs, raised header, then cut/re-installed vinyl siding and metal flashing. No problems. Due to the door panel configuration, had to change the whole door out though (sold the original on Craiglist for $300)

My tower hits the ski pylon on at the sunpad so didn't try your approach or even Tim (Nuke Pwr) approach.
