I'm getting a boatmat made for my swim platform by my father in law and was thinking of line X'ing the top as it has some dings and marks from over the years. I saw a commercial the other day for Herculiner which is a DIY bed covering for your truck and was wondering if anyone has any experience with it? It would be much cheaper then getting the platform Line X'ed.

Linex cost me like 75 bucks. Can't beat it.

I knew a couple of guys who did herculiner in their Jeeps. It was a really abrasive texture though. It wouldn't be my choice for applications where bare skin is likely to come into contact with it regularly. With LineX and Rhino Liner the texture is created and controlled by the sprayer. With Hercluliner it's created by particles suspended in the liquid.

^ Ya, I can see that being an issue. I just called my local Line X location and they said it would be about $ 150.00. That is also our rip off Canadian pricing but I'm sure it is worth every penny.

I herculinered an old swimstep that I modded into the back seat of our golf cart. Worked for the application. But it's way too gritty for a boat situation.

And I had a factory Malibu teak swimstep Linexed with no grit. Then installed a Gator Grip top pad on it. It's now a year old. Super tough. And looks GREAT!

Cost me like $80 too. The guy had done like 4 or 5 of them in the past, the oldest of which was 4 yrs old. It still looks great now. He does it all in batches..... a ton of things in one spray booth, all the same color. Like a powdercoater. Maybe look around a bit more for another Linex dealer in your area?

I took the swim platform out to the Line X dealer today and told him others have had it done anywhere from & 75-$100 so he came down to $100. He said he may even charge me less when he has it finished.....Sweet deal. I'll get some pictures up once I have new mat on.
