I know it's odd, but the Explorer has been my favorite car. Had a '94, '99, and now '03. Best vehicle for all of my needs, and always getting the job done.

Now they move to a smaller chassis, lower clearance, decreased towing capacity, all to better "meet the market". Fuel economy is great, but not when I can 't do what I need to get done. Wonder if I can still order a 2010 before this disaster comes out. Seems more like they're using the name and status of Explorer to push a new CUV, I'm bummed.

The Explorer was doomed before this, they were already bigger than what an expedition use to be and Ind, Susp front and rear. At least they still used body on frame construction though. IMO the last iteration was more minivan than truck anyway.

This new one is growing on me though. Is it a "truck"? no, but true truck based SUVs are getting rare. I'd buy one as a daily driver or kid hauler.

Yep thats true. I wondered why they didn't switch to a unit body construction when they got rid of the live axle.

I think this is a good move for Ford. The Explorer had become more of a family station wagon than a truck so it made sense to change the platform. I bet most of the Explorer owners used them more like a car than a truck. Ford has awesome trucks and getting rid of the wanna-be truck is a good thing!

^^ V6 camaros have been around for a long time, except for when it was discontinued.

Lol, the V6 camaros of today have more HP than the old SS's had.

I am probably one of the minority that actually used (use) the Explorer as it should be (based on its name at least) I still have a 99 model with a solid front axle out of a 72 Bronco under it.
