Anyone experience fat sacs that have gotten stiff over time? Been used in a plug-n-play setup. My guess is they've never been removed and cleaned.

They are now super stiff to the point where you can't really even roll them up.

Are they permanently damaged? Can I treat them with something to bring the rubber back to life? Should I just use them as-is?

I had a set of old sacs in my '06 Supra. They were super stiff. I used them a ton and never had an issue. When they were cold they were crazy stiff but loosened up some when hot. It seems like the material is different on the new sacs vs the originals from years ago. The newer sacs seem much more pliable than from 10-12 years ago.

Note to self. Not to add concrete to the ballast bag. Check lol

Mine are 4 years old and stay soft when cold. Stiffer than warm of course but not hard.

Not an issue at all. My old skylon sacks are like that. Just fill em up. No issues at all.

cool i guess i'll just them as-is. they're plug n play anyway so at least i don't have to fold them up each time I use them.

How old are these bags and what type are they? If they are the old rubber bladder type, I would say pitch them and get some new ones, cause you will eventually have a leak. If they are the current style (made of rafting boat type material) it would take a lot to break them... and I'm surprised they seem stiffer than when new cause they are stiff to begin with. If you have modern style bags from Fly High, Straightline, or Ronix 8-three, I wouldn't worry about it. If you have some of the old stuff I would consider upgrading. And by old I mean like way back when the bags had an outer liner, like circa 2000, like the 350 nose sac I still use in my 89 Supra.

Yeah they're newer style fly high. I'll give them a shot!
