Fellas,

Pretty sure I know the answer to this ... Axis A22 + Z5 + Wetsounds 485 (pair potentially) ... I can do this right? Or will it not all fit and look retarded? Dude at boat show said yes, but he was just a fluffer hired for the show...

What does a z5 cost for one of these?

If you have a axis with a z5 and pics, let me know. I'm on the hunt.... My wife is gonna be pissed when I roll up in the driveway... hahaha...

Thanks ahead of time my kneegrowz!

Chattwake is doing this (a pair of 485s and z5) to his 2011 Axis. I am sure he will reply and confirm what can be done.

I cant see a set of pro 485's fitting the axis tower I am currently redoing my system and just installed a set of them and there was barley enough room and my tower is huge.I would bet that you could make a threesome work though without any problems

I have no clue if it will fit....but here's some advice (your 31 years old) - quit calling people negros or any spelling variation you think of.

Clayton - I am not a negro and sorry if I was harsh. My who issue with the word is that if a black guy calls a black guy a negro it is ok and if a white guy calls a black guy a negro it is NOT OK. It's all good.

Sounds like you will have a pretty sweet setup - those 485's are the smoothest sounding speaker in the Wetsounds HLCD line.

Funny NuBU!!!

Isn't the Axis tower 2 7/8" O.D.? The Pro485 has lower hang height so it would seem to be a fine fit with a cargo top. With the standard factory bimini that wraps around the tower, I would think that a canvas shop would need to sew in a couple of correctly placed gaps for the four Pro485 collars.
I agree that the Pro485 is the smoothest speaker in the WetSounds line-up and tough to beat with any line-up. The only thing that I question is this type of wide speaker with twin collars on a tower that has a high center arc as its hard to get a level appearance. Does the Axis tower flatten out much at the top?

I just took a peek at the Axis and it does have a nice flat section at the top. I think I had it confused with the previous Tige' tower.

The short version is that 485s will fit no problem. There is a blue a22 on boattrader with 485s on the tower. I've been talking to the guys at z5 and they did some measuring. The stock rear struts on the a22 z5 will not mount as designed with the 485s. However, all that needs to be done is relocate the rear struts to another area on the rack. Due to some custom work, my a22 won't be delivered until next week. As soon as I get it I intend to mount the 485s and get the z5 up. Z5 sent me a pile of extra parts, struts, etc. I'll get it figured out and do a write up. I anticipate it being really really easy.

I was told by our dealer when we bought our A22 last summer that the z5 was $1600.

The z5 is more than that. I'm prett sure that's below dealer cost. I've been getting those racks for the last 3 years on my sponsorship boats...

I was pricing out an a20 and I think the Z5 was between 2500 and 3000, but I could be wrong.

I've always liked the Z5's but the price makes me think how often I'd really have to store something up there.
