Hey Guys,

My neighbor let me try out his Ronix Stage 5'4 wakesurf. I have never done it before and got up on my 1st try... My family has an 08 VLX with pre settings for surfing and wakeboarding, not knowing how to set the weight, i just hit the button and the boat did it its self...

Can you guys give me some advice?

Anyways, I am 6' 255lbs - What kind of board should I be looking at?

Hey Kevin,

I just responded to your PM. You're just down the road. Can you grab a crew, your family's VLX (and a few fat sacs) and meet us at New Hogan in Valley Springs? We've got a board you can borrow and I'm certain you'll be free-riding by the end of the day.

How fast were you going? I'm just a beginner myself, but that looked too fast on the video. I've found 10.5 mph to be the best speed on my boat so far, and need about 10 feet or more of water to get a good wave.

John - I was about 10.8 mph

I am about your size and found the right board made all the difference.

I bought a Inland Surfer Red Woody earlier in the season and it was well worth it. It is a fast board for big guys.

Good Luck.

08 what weight are you running? After watching your video you need to get a gps and check your speedo. it might say your running 10.8 but that really looks like 12+. also where is your wedge position? personaly I have an 07 vlx I run all stock full exsept the starboard rear. 750# in the locker 400# under the port side seats. 750# on top of the port seats and against the observers strage door( as far forward as you can. 350# in the bowagainst the back rest running from port to starboard. wedge is all the way down and 2 clicks back up roughly the 7 o`clock position. we run 11mph calibrated with gps. and the wave loooks like this.

Hey Kevin take surfdad up on the offer for sure.

I'm 6'1" at 240-250 and can rip it up pretty darn well on a TWP Comp 5.0 In fact I've posted pictures of me and my daughter on that board which would be around 300lbs. It's fast and loose just loads of fun. I've ridden that Ronix you have. My buddy bought one at the boat show, dude it sucks! He rode mine and promptly ordered a TWP Bullet.
