what boat gives the BIGGEST wake

i am getting a boat but besides using it for wakeboarding i will be using it for practicing tricks on my stand up yama jetski when the ocean's waves are flat. what boat can produce the biggest wake (not necessarily the best quality, which i would want if just boarding.. but biggest so i can hit on the standup jetski)?

man u are asking for it, but like the way u threw n the jetski part so that no one will bash u to hard. But also on another note we dont like jet-ski's.

Me it's a BU lsv 4k ballast hands down.

Just set whatever you get up for surfing and it throw some rollers for ya. I know the sycophant jet skiers on my lake seem to like it.

Isnt it illegal for a jetski to be jumping anouther boats wake that close to the boat?

The Cyclone is only 20 feet. James has put a lot of effort in to building a stellar surf wake. however, I don't think that you want to jump a surf wake. You'll be too close to the back of the other wake.

That said, building a wake on one side of the boat, like a wake surf wake, will give you the biggest wake possible but you'll only have a good wake on one side.

this is a very touchy subject. Since you will be using it primarily for jumping with a jet scoot you don't need to have the boat going fast, but the boat needs to be going fast enough to have a solid wake. I'd say your best bet would be a huge boat of some sort. Correct me if I'm wrong but shape won't matter too much so it wont necessarily be a wake boat.

I should have clarified that I meant jumping the trailing rollers not the surf wave itself.

woah JL! i did not know a wake/wave like that would be even possible! a good wake on just one side would be totally fine. that is done w/ just extra ballast bags on one side? how fast does the boat have to be going? sorry for all the questions but i know u guys are the wake masters!

I used to watch my dad and his buddies practice on their stand ups doing back flips and barrel rolls back in the 80s. your best bet is going to be getting any wakeboat and loading it up to surf on the right side and finding a friend who's got a boat and loading it up to surf on the left side, drive them about 10-15ft apart going side by sidE at surfing speed. both surf wakes will meet behind the two boats and have a perfect ramp for you. from there you just get out ahead of them start cruising head on, go between the two boats and hold on to your package ;)

The point where the two wakes meet will be real foamy, not the crisp wake Sippi describes.

The method that Sippi describes works perfectly.I did it with my boat and another boat for Bubby Snow's water ski show.Bubby's son Marlin rides a standup though the two boats and hucks the ski easily 10 feet above the water off the combined wakes.

We've built a spine twice. Both time the wake was a foamy mess where the two wakes met. I can't imagine suggesting running a jet ski between two boats that are 10 feet a part.

It's their show opener.We did two shows out at Roaming Shores,opened both shows with it.The first time I was a little behind the other boat,so the launch wasn't great.The second one we lined up perfect,launched about 10 feet in the air completely sunk out of sight when landing then popping up and riding back to the beach.Was pretty wild to watch.

its not washy at all...i think you're either going to fast, too slow, or the two boats arent even. remember some boats make wakes at different lengths. ive never seen it foamy...

Your basically hitting the spine with the two boat idea mentioned above...we tried it too...pretty cool.

For the stand up I don't really think you need a clean wave like you'd need when you're surfing...

We just had a few people in an 04 SANTE with ballast full and it did the trick...12 mph maybe? Jet ski comes from the direction the boat is traveling.

Chase a house boat or a ferry, way bigger wakes than anything a wakeboat will throw.

come on people...you mean to tell me you have never ridin boats side by side and got a rider from one boat to jump both wakes.....o yea at 24mph, where the wakes meets...its about a 6ft high spine!

you got an lsv with 4k of ballast?

what kinda prop and how do you distribute it?

i got 1235 acme have 850# n each back compartment the stock bow ballast and stock middle ballast one is 300 the other is 450. i stick the fly high bow sac in the nose with roughly 600# 650# in it. then i lay the 750# fly high long ways in the center floor. plus 3 people. any more than that i have to pump out some water. got the 340 monsoon wish i would have got the big engine. 8.1 i think. but that puts me right at 4k. the center weight is the most important of them all it is what makes the wake steep n my opinion without the center sac i can tell a big difference. wedge down or up depending if u like a lip on the top of wake.

It won't get "clean", but you can clean up that bowl a lot if the boats run closer together. As in really unsafely close together. Not recommended with women, children, or sissy men on board.

I can't imagine buying a boat to practice on when you have access to the ocean.

But, if money is no object, I would go with a ~40'+ cruiser. Houseboats don't throw much of a wake for their size.
