2000 xstar custom hatch

Im planning my next mod to my boat. I basically hate the motorized hatch and want to replace them with gas shocks and an electronic latch.

The gas shocks are easy enough to come by, but im having difficulty finding a latch solution.

Im thinking about grabbing whatever Nautique used on the pre 04 210's for their electronic latch. Can anyone point me to that hardware, or something similar?

I've got a 99 205V with a manual hatch. The latch is a simple mechaninal one. There is just a pull loop that releases it. I think an electronic one would be more trouble than its worth. You may want to call a MC dealer and see what they got for a manual latch.

kirk, do you have a pic of yours?

Does the latch go through the deck like the 3 peice decks do? or do you reach down near the ski pylon? (my other option for a manual latch).

Also, how do you like your hatch that way? anything you would do differently?

There is a nylon loop that sticks up by the ski pylon that you pull on to release the latch and to open the hatch (all in one motion).

Other than turning it into a 3 piece rear deck, there is nothing I would do differently. An electronic latch would just add another step in the process of opening it up and if it breaks or your battery dies you may not be able to get into the rear compartment.

that sounds perfect. I really wasnt wanting to modify my deck to add a perko latch. although I might need to reinforce where the gas shocks mount.
