Without any additional ballast or no ballast at all?

Thats without any ballast. Ballast tanks are empty. Title should have read , Epic wake, No ballast.

The 07 22 SSV wake look sgreat w/o any ballast untill you hit...it's like a hitting mush.

you dont have to worry about that on an Epic...anyone who's riden one can attest to that..

Rod why would you post pics at 25mph if mostly anyone rides at that speed??

If you took the epic for a ride, why wont take pics at 22mph? or load the hell out of it and then take pics?
I understand you sell this boats and wont abuse them, but I cannot quite figure out your selling methods, the same happened when you first posted on the Wakecraft, unloaded boat at non riding speeds, what's the deal??? this is a wakeboarders site!!!

Then I want to express that I totally support your bussines on selling this brands, and totally support EPIC and Wakecraft for joining the venture of boat building.

I ride at 25, that wake looks pretty fricken decent without any ballast. I'm a secretly, HUGE epic fan, my friends all know it. Too bad there's no rep or dealer here in the midwest really at all. One thing that I had never noticed before until now, and probably the only thing, which I do not like are those 'pull tabs' to open the hatches and engine compartment...they look cheesy. For 60K they should put perko locks like Malibu does or at least hidden latch handles like Mastecraft...besides that..still drooling and in love!

Eder I'm glad you ride at 25, but if you just stare at the tree you wont ever see the woods.

Luciano...and that is exactly why i pointed out those goofy looking tabs , it was a mere attempt to look beyond that damn tree!
Old     (rodltg2)      Join Date: Oct 2005       09-23-2008, 11:02 AM Reply
Luciano, I dont know who you are riding with, but most the guys that I know ride this boat 25-27mph. This isnt an a selling method. I had the cruise control set at 25.2 , turned around and snapped a few pics. There are plenty of pics floating around of the Epic wake with Full ballast. Evryone knows it huge and clean. Trust me we are not sacred to load it. Plenty of riders on wakeworld who have riden this exact boat loaded up.
Old     (hatepain)      Join Date: Aug 2006       09-23-2008, 11:12 AM Reply
I know some people ride faster but of all the wakeboarders I know not one of them rides of 22.5. I'd bet if they took a poll on here you would find a predominance of the riders out there fall into the 20-22 range.

Old     (rodltg2)      Join Date: Oct 2005       09-23-2008, 11:18 AM Reply
im sure more riders ride slower, most the guys I have taken out latley ride a bit fatser and longer. If you want to load the Epic with 4000lbs , you better be prepared to ride at 24mph+.
Old     (john30)      Join Date: Nov 2003       09-23-2008, 11:47 AM Reply
Rod I'd like to learn more about these boats. Do you have any brochures you could send? I could PM you my adress.
Old     (luchog)      Join Date: Jun 2002       09-23-2008, 11:49 AM Reply
Rod , that's the point, you say most riders are riding that boat 24+ with ballast, but then your boat is unloaded!!!

What I'm trying to say is, if your loading it then go take photos at 24+, if it's unloaded then take them at the speed people ride the boat unloaded, I guess 22, It can be more or less, but I'm guessing again because there are no EPICS here in Argentina.
I think you might get my point now.

Sorry if You felt I was bashing you, it was not my intention. It's just that these sort of inaccuracies tend to be misleading to the ones who dont know the boat.

ive ridden the epic and its almost a must to ride a longer rope and faster than usual. right now u usually ride 75 feet and ~23mph, however we (Long Beach State Wakeboarding) should be getting or new epic within the next week or so and im sure once i get used to it i will be riding 80+ feet and 25-25 mph. with all that weight the wake stays clean really far back and stays fairly narrow. longer line, faster speed just seems to work behind that boat.
Old     (rson)      Join Date: Jun 2002       09-24-2008, 9:50 AM Reply
Maybe the wake is wash at 22? If the boat is designed for serious weight, the wake might be crap without.
Old     (rodltg2)      Join Date: Oct 2005       09-24-2008, 10:01 AM Reply
The more weight you add the faster you need to go to clean it up. With full ballast , it seems like 24mph is about as slow as you can go. Empty you can go a slow as 18 and have a clean wake by using the trim plate.

The reason I took the pic at 25.2 is simple . I had the boat set at 25.2 while cruising the lake. I thought to turn arouund and snap a few pics of the wake. I decided to post to show the wake while empty. I think 25 is good middle ground since most ride btween 22-27.

Rod...when do I get to take a run in the Epic??? How have you been?
Old     (hamkj)      Join Date: Apr 2002       09-24-2008, 11:27 AM Reply
Eder... if you knew anything about Epic... it is "rider designed"!!!

They chose to go with some pieces of material stapled to the back of the hatches to open and close them... Perko's Latches are known to break finger nails etc...

No rider would ever want to ride with a broken finger nail!

The whole engineering of those material tabs was one of the contributing factors of the boat being priced at $60k not $49k as originally hoped.

It is this type of R&D and engineering that is keeping Epic at the top!

^^^salesman^^^

Flimsy nylon straps = cheap. Supra did it without Perkos or flimsy straps. There are way better ways to accomplish this.

Wait....now that I re-read your post, hehateme, I sense sarcasm:-D And the boats list for $72,500. That's $12,500 for those straps:-D

Flimsy....now thats fuuny. Anyone who's been in an Epic should know that nothing on the boat is flimsy. Look at these hinges .. flimsy .. I dont think so. The straps work just fine. If you dont like it.. Dont buy it! Some may prefer the perko latches , some may not.

Hahah, you hit it right in the nuts Erik!!

Rod - please re-read my post, IF I HAD THE MONEY I WOULD BUY AN EPIC!!!! I just dont like the straps! I LOVE malibus, and have one, but I dont really like the wedge. Mastercrafts are sick, but I dont like some of their graphics...beggars cannot be choosers right Rod...but the real question is, can choosers be beggars!?

Haha - im just being facetious, LOVE Epic!

I agree that simple is good but the execution of the tabs could look a little better. Sanger do something similar but with nicer results IMO.

I gotta go with with OnlyInboards on this one. An Epic requires epic pictures. Come on man, put some mamacitas on that thing and then post up again.

The Epic is an awsome boat. We have them here in Utah. It's nice having the 4000lbs to adjust depending on how many people you have with you, or how good the people are. We go a lot with only 3 people and having all 4000lbs makes a big difference.

Epic now has a bunch more team riders and dealers...

Epic Owners... Chime in!!!! Epic Pride!!!! Post pics of your wake... weight, speed etc...

24+ mph seems a bit fast to have to go without ballast....

As long as I have the boat , it will be available for demo's .( its for sale ). the private lake should be empty of slalom skiers here shortly.

i unforutuanlty cannot bring out the boat buns without causing problems with the wife.

Roddy Rod, The boat looks nice, when did you pick up an epic?

I ride at 25 MPH by the way as well, I like to ride a bit faster. It would be hard to see the woods for me if all I saw was a 22 mph shot of the wake and not a 25.

Lol. This thread is quite funny. Here we have the boat with the most ballast of any kind in the market. Yet we have a post and pictures of the boat with no ballast. Arent Epics sold to the riders and not the family type indviduals? Who rides an Epic with no weight?

I thought that when they were first released they were 100k. Epic's site is out of date, and I have had a hard time finding up to date information, pictures, specs, prices, etc... Do they have the 8.1 L mercruiser? I have TONS of questions about these boats, if you could send me an up-to-date brochure on them that would be the best.

If you are in the SE part of the county, I have my '08 demo with 40hrs, red, 4-tower speakers (Diamond Fusion), bimini, trlr, and 3400 watts and I just dropped it to $55K too. I have alot of freight getting them here. I'd entertain a reasonable cash offer. boat is ready to go and I can do financing with little or nothing down. As far as weight and speed....I've had several pro's behind it and with full ballast at 80' we're running 24.8 to 25.0 and that is with 4 people in it. No ballast and my wife and 4 kids I can get clean wake at 19.5-20.00 at 65'. My 7 yr old rides at 18mph and we just have to move one person from side to side when she is coming into the wake on that side. 18 is just a tick slow. I have the boat in SC now on lake Hartwell but can have it back in Ocala or Clermont any time.
Old     (goboating)      Join Date: May 2008       10-11-2008, 6:21 PM Reply
Ryan, Jimmy Wolfe rides at 90' and 27mph. Talked to him at surf expo to confirm that. I rode with Tony Carroll 3-4 days at that time too and he was riding 80' and 25.0. Have tons of video of one day with my wife and 4 kids on the boat and the wake was sick. At half full, I have a friend who rides at 23.0, we add a little extra weight in the front. I have had a few other pro's behind it and have had them ride up to 26 with full ballast and 4 guys on it. We've spent alot of time down here on the Epic and have gained a ton of info on the wake. Using the shape plate is key. at full load we have it around 55%, some go to 30. Tony did his entire set behind it each day and nailed everything time after time. He just got his new Epic a month ago and sold his Malibu to buy it and sign on with Epic. He had several thousand #'s in lead in the Malibu and said it didn't come close to the Epic. That's not rumor, it was 1st hand.

"My 7 yr old rides at 18mph and we just have to move one person from side to side when she is coming into the wake on that side."

thats hilarious... the Epic's new VWCS... "variable wake control system"
Old     (goboating)      Join Date: May 2008       10-12-2008, 4:00 AM Reply
That is just because the wake is so much bigger then any other stock wake with no ballast, at 18mph, one side won't stay as clean that slow but most others won't stay clean going slow either. I'd rather have my kids learn on the bigger wake. Get up over 19 and it is fine, she just isn't comfortable going 19 just like alot of guys that are learning.

A new Epic MSRP is around 73K. That will change due to shipping or taxes and whether or not you want it rapped. I have one left 08 for less than that. You can email me with any of your questions or just post them here. I am one of the new dealers in Utah. Yes they now have the 8.1L Merc.Upload

The new '09's have gone up from that. I'll let me '08 for for low $50's if someone acts quick. Have someone wanting to trade but I'd rather sell outright.

Old     (goboating)      Join Date: May 2008       10-15-2008, 3:59 AM Reply
There might be a few left but for the most part they used them all for finishing up the '08's and Fineline is doing them all now. The new one's are really sharp. They just keep making little changes that are making the Epic even better and the market will come back and these boats will sell and do well.

My 08 is going for $59,9. We are a little slow, but it's not that time of the year either for boating in Utah, well for the conventional boater. I went up last week for a little surfing.
Sorry guys I don't know or care anymore at wake the wake looks like at 20+ I just want it nice at 10-11mph. I will be more than happy to take anyone up to the lake before I winterize the boat. D.F.T.R this is my work, lets go.

riders are: lil dude=Gabe White 22mph at 65-70', tall dude = Philip Albritton (TUG Productions), then Tony Carroll and Dustin Shows. Sorry if I mispelled any names guys, great ridin', great pics by Swami, taken on Lake Travis during Waketoberfest. Most were with around 1/2 to 3/4 ballast, 7-8 people in the boat. Not sure on all the rope lengths or the speeds. Tony's usually around 24.8 or so at either 80 or 85. Dont know what brand/size tube Swami was on either.

enjoy...

I was wondering whether or not you could actually here the speaker system? Is it better than wetsounds on your tower?

Yes, The sound is not lost in the air AS BAD. You can hear stuff from the wet sound speakers, they are the best tower speakers I believe but the Epic Transom Audio is the best that I have heard. The riders that come with us say that they can hear the beat and words in most cases. I think that you are to focused anyway to actually hear the music, for most people.

Snacks ~~ I hit you up with an email to get the EPIC out and get some pictures. Well I didn't hear from you and ended up hooking up with Croft Marine and a chase boat for some photo's and to demo their 08 230. Let's get your EPIC out and get some pics. It's suppose to snow a couple days this week but we have our fingers crossed for Saturday and a little sunshine. Check out www.downfortheride.com and look into the write up that I did for Croft Marine and also the pictures. Let me know if you want to try and get out and get some pictures. Heck sign up on DFTR and get to know other riders and surfer's in the area. I got a few people that are really interested on how the EPIC surf's!
