I'm in an 07' X-star at the moment but putting it up for sale this week. I have been researching the SAN 230's and the bu's. Really haven't decided between the two but my main question is what's the difference's in the VLX and the LSV besides the obvious?? I've ridden behind a VLX but never a 230 or a LSV. I am partial to the size of the LSV over the VLX though.

i have had both, im in the lsv right now, its super nice and roomie, the vlx is a lot tighter inside, i personaly like the vlx wake better. for me i have 3200 pounds in the lsv and it perfect. i would get the lsv if u want room, but u do need to thrown in some more weight after the 4 stock ballas's if u want a solid wake. but on the other hand the vlx wake stock is pretty dang nice

I hope you are joking Face planter. I would think they have very similar wakes. I think they are both based off the newest wake hull. I would go for the LSV just because it is bigger and I don't really like the cutouts on the VLX. An LSV may need to be weighted down a little more to get the same wake.

The 25 LSV has the best ski wake hands down. The longer the boat the better floats on top of the water, makeing the smaller wake.

I think the VLX has the better wake, but the LSV has more room. Even though it is not much bigger it sure feels like it.

My 09lsv has a much better wake with stock mls than my 06 vlx did. Not to mention the surf wave is bigger and longer.

I just recently rode behind a 07 lsv and the wake was much bigger stock than my 06 vlx stock wake.

Never been in or behind an LSV but love my 09 VLX. 100 inch beam is wide enough for me and a boat load of people.

If it's this hard to tell the difference get the 230.

If you need the room, get the LSV. Otherwise it just takes up a bigger slip, bigger parking space, more weight to get a good wake, & more gas on the lake & on land. The LSV is great if you have a big crew.

We love our LSV. Our one year old daughter has plenty of room to roam around even when we have 4-5 more adults in with us. If you plan to use only the stock ballast the VLX is probably the way to go. The stock wake plus the wedge on the LSV doesn't do much for me. But throw in an extra 2000 lbs and 3-4 adults on top of stock and you've got one nasty wake. WOW! We couldn't be happier.

If you haven't spent much time in either boat, malibus from the drivers seat forward are almost exactely the same. All of the extra room from is in the cabin area, not in the bow or stern. So that 2ft in extra length is all in the cabin and not really spread out through the rest of the boat. I only mention this because 2ft of extra room in the cabin makes a HUGE difference in the interior size of the boat. I'm sure you'll figure that out that.

All that being said.... I'd still trade in my 23LSV for 2009 Nautique 230 if money wasn't an issue, LOL

Good luck with your decision.

I own a VLX and love it, but the LSV has my favorite wake out of any boat made by any manufacturer, unfortunately it's too much boat for my lake. It all comes down to personal preference, go test drive and ride behind both and choose for yourself.

That's the thing that is getting me, I live in MS. and there are no dealers within a 3 or 4 hour drive! I just haven't been that pleased w/the X-Star! Tower seems like it's going to fall off any minute, I put the LY-6 engine in it and it still seems to be underpowered although I do have the Fly High 2500 lb. system in it. I like the boat, just don't love the boat...Used to have a 02' SAN 210 and I loved that boat, just need something bigger these days and figured out that I don't want it to be an X-Star.

LSV hands down the cooler is twice as big. No brainer.

Just get a 230,and you will love your boat again.

Two different hulls. At least last year they where. They are very different boats when it comes to wakeboarding/skiing/surfing.

I have a 04 VLX that I board/ski and surf behind. I've done all 3 behind a 07 LSV.

The LSV is nicer for skiing and room.
The VLX is nicer for boarding/surfing.

Was the LSV as good of a ski wake as a DD of course not.

The LSV is a V25 Hull and the VLX is a V25 Wake Hull.

Like I said they are different.

I'm comparing the Sunscape LSV to the Wakesetter VLX not the Wakesetter LSV.

So I guess we need to ask him is it the Sunscape LSV or the Wakesetter LSV? Which are 2 totally different boats.

Pretty sure he's referring to the Wakesetter LSV

Personally I like the LSV wake better. I have rode both wake and they are good but the LSV to me seams to be more user friendly. The transitions are more mellow and as people have stated it gives a good ski wake when at speed. I feel that this boat is better suited as an entire family boat not just a hardcore wake boat although it has the ability. The room that the LSV has is definitely a high point. I guaranty that if you go with the LSV you will have no regrets.

If you could afford the extra coin, gotta go LSV. It would be hard to regret getting the bigger boat, but I would certainly wonder what the LSV would be like if I was in the VLX.

I went with the LSV for the huge difference in interior room compared to the VLX. Upgrading to the LSV was only another 3 or 4 grand.

A couple years ago when I was looking at 05s I could get an LSV a couple grand cheaper than the VLX, because the demand for the VLX was higher.
