Advice on my old supra

I have an 86 supra Marauder closed bow same as the sunsport. My stringers and floor need redone which will cost me like 4500 bucks for the complete job with new carpet too. Should i consider geting another boat or fixing her and keeping it? If I sold it what do you guys think I could get for it or is it not worth it? My thoughts were to fix it and pretty much have a new boat with no payments then i could sell it down the road when i wanted to upgrade for more money. what do you guys think? thanks for any input

If it costs that much, i'd think again. No way in hell you'll get that out of the boat.

You may be able to swindle someone this time of the year, but doubtful. if they know why a supra is worth $x, they'll know to check for soft floors and stringers.

If it were mine, I'd ride the piss out of it and fix over the winter. There is some stringer repair stuff that won't involve a complete teardown. You build a form and pour the stuff into it. Has worked for those who tried it from what i read. never done a stringer job myself, but doesn't sound too terrible. pulling the engine and hoisting it would something to consider. Not sure if the pour-in stringer stuff would require an engine pull...

To do the job complete myself would be like 3200 bucks with all the materials. I dont want to half arss it. I plan on keeping this boat a while. I am getting married in less than 2 month and the wife to be and I both dont want a boat pmt right now. regardless of what i sell it for in the long run Id rather fix her right and not have anything comeback to haunt me.

If you are going to keep it for some time, invest the money and do it. If you are handy, then take the offseason and do it yourself, I have heard it is a cumbersome and timely process, but people have done it. With an older boat, it is hard to justify the expense, but if you are going to keep using it and don't have the money for a new one, then you don't have many choices. Just go into knowing that you won't get all of your money back out of it.
