i drained my block a couple weeks ago because i thought i was headed to afghanistan for the winter. that was delayed to i took the boat out yesterday. i idled out for about 5 minutes then tried to pull a rider. i lost power and shut it down. i noticed the temp was about 190. so i pulled the impeller and saw it was chewed up. i replaced it today and hooked water up to it water and water isnt being pulled into the cooling system(i drained the strainer and it hasnt filled up). could it be a bad pump?

Is the impeller housing worn, scratched or otherwise appear damaged? They do wear out eventually or if you suck up some sand it'll scratch them up and they won't pump well. I'd check for clogged hoses, clogged trans cooler, etc before reaplcing the whole pump.

i filled the cooling system with water. thinking there may be an air pocket or something. still no luck with water getting drawn into the system.
