a group of 4 of us just got back from the new cable park in fairfield, oh (just north of cinci) called wake nation. we decided to head for some warmer water and give our boats a break from all the ballast "abuse". though i've never been to a cable park before, this was a first class facility. it was very clean and professional looking. the guys working there were very friendly and willing to give advice for riding the cable. the pro shop was excellent - all liquid force equipment (l.f. is a big sponsor). though we brought our own equipment, the rental shop looked great - boards were not junk boards.

i will add that nothing replaces riding behind a boat, but this was the next best thing. it was a blast trying the slider boxes and kicker ramps. riding the cable also let you fine tune riding switch and popping ollies. you simply can't go wrong paying $35 for an all day pass to ride as much as your body will allow.

as of may 16th, wake nation had several obstacles on the lake: 2 slider boxes (one easy, one much more advanced) and 2 ramps (a wedge box, and a kicker box). they also had a barrel for ollie-ing over. by june 2, which is the grand opening, the manager said they will have 3 more obstacles in the water - 2 are box sliders, and 1 is a rail slider.

nice job to wake nation, and i'm happy to give them a plug: www.wakenation.com

I will be driving that way on Friday to ride Saturday and maybe Sunday as well. If the roof top is back in the water I think we'll stay for Sunday but if not our group of 10-15 will head home Saturday night most likely. Any status on the roof top?

From everything else we've seen for pics and talking to Peter it should be an excellent trip. Also a word to all the midwest riders who have never hit a cable, you will never want to give up a phat wake for a cable, but cable riding has its own unique perks and I'd highly recommend planning a weekend trip to Wake Nation or KC Watersports!

Yeah, me and a few guys were down there early last week and it is a great facility. Peter and all the guys there were awesome and we plan on making a few more trips up there this summer for sure.

be careful Ive known a few good boat riders get bit by the cable bug, and made cable their primary form of riding! Once you get the air tricks down, the kickers and if the park has good obstacles, I just find it so much more varied and interesting than boat. PERSONALLY speaking :-) I still love boat, I just love cables more

I love how new cables are popping up everywhere tho, I think soon, well be able to just take our boards to most places and have a cable close enough to hit up, theyre becoming more and more like skate parks
