Hey guys i was wondering what tips yall have for landing in the flats.Right now if i over jump the wake and land past anything but the downside i pretty much yard sale and for the life of me i can not hang on.
Im in pretty good shape so i don't think its a strength issue, and im riding behind a Mondo so its not like im launching a G23 way out there lol

Any tips or suggestions on what to try would be greatly appreciated!

Do you have any pictures or film? Can you describe what happens in more detail?

My first thoughts are handle placement, where you're looking.

Like Jeffrey said, keeping the handle tight to your front hips helps keep things in control when you land and there may still be slack.

Try and make sure you're coming down on the tail of your board first vs. flat.... a flat landing will smack much harder and give you way more of a jolt. Tail first should help keep things soft.

You also want to land still slightly on edge, if you're crossing the wakes + some you'll have a fair amount of lateral speed, that needs to be reduced slowly or else you'll tumble over.

Nice to see somebody on here still going big most people just stick going wake to wake and it's not the same IMO lol.It might be your edge in and line tension being to tight in the air.

Along with mentioned above (keeping the handle low & in), make sure to absorb the landings by bending your knees & look more out in front from where you're landing, not down at the water. Also helps to land with even pressure on both feet. Hope this helps.

I advice is to either aim for wake to wake, or go as far into the flats as you can. Landing further out usually means landing with more speed which makes for a softer landing. Landing just outside of the wake in the trough is a tough landing.
